Hi guys, any idea where would be an ideal place to stay that's convenient to most places to visit? Any good and cheap hotel recommendation? Planning a 5D/4N holiday there sometime soon.

You are going to stay in Ubud or Kuta? There's alot of cheap hotel in Poppies Lane 1 & 2 and also Legian Street.

Preferably not in the heart of Kuta... dowan noisy atmosphere. Is ubud a good location to stay (in the maps it seems abit far off from alot of the attractions down south)? Or should i search somewhere in sanur instead?

Got a question - are shoes necessary in Bali?
As in are there any temples or places which require ppl to wear shoes?

If not i think i want to wear sandals everyday... tongue.gif

To Add...but you need long pants & for ladies, either long skirt or pant..otherwise..guys/gals...u need to rent a Sarong!! & in Uluwatu u need to rent the yellow string sumore.... sad.gif
Means if bring own sarong then no need to rent/buy from them? Any idea which temple/place requires sarong?
I thought in uluwatu it's free (or rather included in the entrance fee)?

All famous temples are not free in Bali..unless u goto those unknown temples which are also everywhere in Bali. Every temple has their own rules...but all require you to tutup aurat..no bermuda & no short skirts & etc...So to avoid, wera long pant / long skirt in Bali daily. Yes u can bring sarong..but for sure looks odd... biggrin.gif

Not wear everyday and all the time mah...hahaha.. can put in bagpack and only wear when visiting those temples.

I just came back from Bali 2 days ago and it was great!

Some stuff to clarify about Agus and Lukman. According to Agus, they're not a company, but just normal friends helping each other in the tour guide business. Lukman finds the business (marketing/sales) and Agus is the driver (and there are other drivers linked to Lukman as well). He said Lukman does not know the logistics and will simply quote prices and itineraries which are not convenient for the drivers.

He said 900k (which was given by Lukman for 5D/4N) is not enough and apologized but still refused to bring us around to far places on the 5th day. For him to drive us to far places he quoted an extra 300k but we didnt take the offer but asked him to bring us shopping around kuta instead which he agreed. So its still a good deal considering the peak season price for one day is about 350k.

Overall i think he's a very good driver and tour guide but u definitely wont be able to shortchange or con him. He's a smart guy and can speak English pretty fluently.

This is Agus and his Suzuki APV:

P/s: if you are the type of person to get carsick easily.... pls prepare some motion sickness pills or something as he drives quite ganas and sometimes takes shortcuts in small narrow lanes (the roads are quite bad) to avoid traffic.

I stayed in Mentari Sanur (Opposite Inna Grand Bali). Every night at about 10.55pm there will be a blackout for about 5 seconds. Not sure if this is normal across Bali or what.... seems pretty weird.

hie guys, organizing a bali trip for my family of 4. Planning to go in oct 16 and come back on oct 19...

Do you guys think it's enough time to at least go around in bali? Mum wants to shop while dad wants to have a relaxing time.

Is it ok to book through Air Asia's Go Holiday or should i book directly for flight and hotels?
*
If you want to go to most of the places in Bali, then 4 days is not enough... especially if your mum wants to do alot of shopping. 5 days should be good as one full day can be used for shopping around Sukawati or Ubud market. If you like to go around everywhere and save on the travelling time, then u should book directly for different hotels in different locations.

@ sugarbaby:
food prices depends on where you eat and what kind of food. On average it would be between RM5 - RM10 per meal. Basically it's more or less the same as food prices in the klang valley.
