I'll be in Bali for 5 nights 6 days. Reckon how much should I bring? Hotel has been paid for. In terms of shopping, is there much stuff to buy eg: girly stuff like clothes? Or do you get more ornaments/decorative items? trying to figure out how much to bring!

You can read my blog coz I just came back from Bali.

You can check AA to get the ticket price. But with a budget of 1k for everything I suggest you stay in Kuta coz accomodation is the cheapest there. However I do warn you that it's crowded and dirty. But if you're not a clubbing sort or hate crowd, then you can head to seminyak or ubud area.

hi all~ i plan to go bali this sept for7 days and 6 nights. i plan to stay at Kuta for 3 nights and ubud 3 nights also.

So 3 days at kuta enuf for me to travel al lthe places near Kuta for e.g.:
sanur, nusa dua, seminyak, tanah lot, jimbaran and etc?

so my plan is ok anot? 3 nights at ubud ok right as i want to find a place less crowded than Kuta.

SO kuta = crowded, ubud = quiet.

ok right?
*
Hi, yup from Kuta to nusa dua is about 20 mins and to seminyak, tanah lot etc is about 1 hour to most places of interest esp uluwatu temple, tanah lot. So if you're spending 3 days there you'll have plenty of time to cover these places if you're travelling from Kuta. Ubud is def more quiet and a village full of culture and arts.

Hi Cas,

I read your blog about your recent Bali trip. It's great! I'm going to Bali next month, and thank you very much for the info & recommendation. Great help. Especially the Geneva part.  brows.gif  I think i'll be shopping like crazy when i'm there. Hmm... just wonder how much millions of Rupiah i should bring tongue.gif

Can you recommend any nice food restaurant around Kuta area? I'll be staying at Kuta-Tuban area.
*
Hi Doremifaso,

Thanks! Haha yea you should check out Geneva, and even the locals don't know where this is so you need to get your driver to call them up for proper directions.

Well to be honest, except for handicrafts, there isn't really much to shop in Bali. I went with a half empty bag and my hubby was suprised that I came home with a half empty bag too, lol.

How many days are you going for? I brought about RM1k for 6 days but still found that wasn't enough coz of the transport fee, massages, food etc. You know la how it is during a holiday - money seems to burn faster than usual so I'd suggest you bring extra cash in case.

As for restaurants in Kuta, you can try Warung Made! I was only in Kuta for 2 days so didn't really check out the restaurants there. But if you're heading to Nusa Dua then I can recommend a few good ones smile.gif

Hi Cas,

OK, i'll try to look out for Warung Made @ Kuta. What food is nice there?
What can you recommend in Nusa Dua? May be i'll go there too.

I'll be in Bali for 6D5N. you too right? wah, RM1K oso tak cukup. Better bring more la if like that. In case not enough Rupiah, do they accept RM or USD?
*
At Warung Made you can try their nasi goreng (ask them to make it extra spicy), satay ayam & gado gado.

As for Nusa Dua (approx 20 mins drive from Kuta. Taxi charges around RM20), I strongly suggest Coco Bistro for their sate lilit (choice of fish or chicken) and Nasi Goreng. You can also try Luna Bonita for some nice italian food if you like. There's this other restaurant, opposite warung Nyoman in Nusa Dua that serves really good Ayam Betutu and Nasi Goreng! I like dining in Nusa Dua coz most of their restaurants are quite classy yet VERY affordable!

Pls bring some USD or RM incase you run out of cash. You can exchange it there but careful when you see the rates advertised outside. It's usually quite different when you step in. They claim got some deduction for commision etc.

Oh make sure you go to the spas too ya.

hi guys, im planning to go to bali in dec. im only interested in the beaches, preferably with crystal clear water of course tongue.gif , to do snorkelling and stuff. any suggestions which beach?? and which hotel would be best? budget for hotel would be around USD100-200 per nite, thx in advance.
*
December would be peak season - very crowded. With a budget of USD100-200 you can get some nice hotels in Nusa Dua. If you're flying with Air Asia check their package that comes with a hotel and opt for a hotel in Nusa dua.

hi guys,
i will go to Bali for a honeymoon vacation. i'm planning to go for 5D4N and around this dec to next year jan. do anyone know any honeymoon package that i can consider? so far, i have a quotation per-couple RM2.5k..is it worth it?

thanks..
*
Hi, does this include airflight, dinner, hotel room (which area?) etc? I stayed at Nusa Dua with my hubby and including air flight and hotel in Nusa Dua , we spent only RM2 k for both.

Guys/ Gals,

Going to bali end of July 08. I bought the free and easy package in Matta Fair. Only asked the agent booked the hotel at Dewa Sri and transport arrangement from Airport to Hotel vice versa. Others DIY.

My question is do you think RM 1000 (IDR 2824512) for two enough to use for 4D3N? My main trip to go there is sightseeing and have some 2 hours spa/massage. smile.gif I'm not really in shopping spree over there as in tight budget. Go there just for relax after a hectic job in KL. LOL.

It will a nice you guys/gals can give info which best place to visit for sightseeing.
*
Hey there, if you ask me 1k is not enough for two. I went there for 4 nights with my husband and we both spent RM2k, minus any serious shopping mind you. Try to take RM1.5k instead and have some spare change too because as you leave the airport you'll have to pay RM50 each as service charge. We both didn't know this and were dead broke on the airport!

You can try Ranggi Spa if you're staying in Nusa Dua. Very cheap and good. As for sight seeing, try Tanah Lot and Uluwatu. You may also read through this thread as some members have mentioned some really good places to visit.

Hello
I'm going for my honeymoon this December
Any place to recommend?
Prefer beach area with some kind of privacy but still not too far from shopping areas
*
Hiya, congrats smile.gif For honeymoon I'd suggest staying in Nusa Dua area coz it's quiet, posh and just nice for couples on a honeymoon. You can take a taxi into kuta for around Rm20 like what my hubby and I did. Lots of privacy in Nusa Dua area for sure and there's a free shuttle service that will take you to the mall smile.gif

i'm chinese, so yeah..shudnt be a prob..i'm staying at Wina Holiday Villa Hotel Kuta. its abt 5 min walk to kuta beach i think..but quite far to walk to makan places.

yeah, i'm into clothes, bags and shoes..not much into art though..

anything also can bargain isit? i'm more interested in getting authentic bali massage..my tour package dont have..so i was wondering..can i bargain for lower price at the massage place? any massage shop also can?
*
Sugarbaby when you're back do let us know how Wina hotel is. I'm going to bali again in January and am considering this hotel. Stayed in Nusa Dua the last time and the cab fees were so expensive going into Kuta!

Anyway as for massage places, you can't negotiate, its fixed price and all their prices are shown on the board. It's quite cheap too, about RM15-RM20 for a foot massage and about Rm20-25 for body massage. Just walk around kuta and you'll find these affordable spas.

ranked 66# in tripadvisor, and that should've told you something about that place. Some say its good and some says its bad. One thing's true, the water there is Extremely salty.

my two cents on the wina.

kinda, ruined my valentine.
*
I always rely on tripadvisor as well smile.gif But then again I've seen a few people blog about this hotel and so far it seems pretty good that's why I need confirmation from others who have been there smile.gif

Sorry to hear about your ruined valentine, there's always next year biggrin.gif You could consider Nusa Dua area next time - very quiet and an excellent spot for a romantic holiday smile.gif)

Planning to go Bali this January 2010, n probably staying at Villa Diana (Flight + Hotel Air Asia). Got few questions here, redundant maybe:

1. Bali airport tax, didn't it included when we pay to AirAsia?
2. Does taxi rate would double if my flight arrive at 8pm? or would be the same (as mentioned in the 1st page by TS) irregardless what time even early in the morning 6am?
*
To answer your query for no 1, yes there is a fee when you leave and it's not included when you buy the tickets. This I didn't know and I barely had enough money to pay so we paid in rupiah for one person and for my hubby, we ended up paying in ringgit @ RM60 which was a total ripoff!!

Conrad is in Nusa Dua right? I heard eating & shopping in Nusa Dua is expensive, true?

Stay in Nusa Dua if you want a quiet romantic time with your other half. It's much more less crowded compared to Kuta and there's just something about Nusa Dua that's really romantic. I stayed at Club Bali Mirage which was pretty decent.

But I do warn you tho, if you're into clubbing then this place does not have a single happening club. You'll have to to take a metered cab into Kuta which will cost you approx RM20 EACH trip.

There's a free shuttle bus that will take you to the nearest mall called Bali Collection in Nusa Dua. It's not that expensive, eating for two in Nusa Dua area will cost you approx RM30 for two people or even less, depending what you have. There are really affordable spas too.
