QUOTE(Demitri @ Dec 20 2007, 06:12 PM)
Hi stimix, have been reading this tread the whole day and sincerely thank you for your recommendation and advices!! notworthy.gif

I will be going to Bali fr 7 Jan - 10 Jan 2008. Is anyone going there the same time as well? This is my first time going there..

I have not worked out the travel itenary yet, I will be staying at Masa Inn, just opposite Hard Rock Hotel.
Dear stimix, any advice? Or can you work out a brief itenary for me? As I'm not sure about the whole direction thingy. Thanks in advance..
Got a few questions:
- Has anyone tried the white water rafting there? Did not see any comment about it in this tread..
- For the "Bali Best Drive" http://www.balisbestdriver.com/ has anyone appointed him? Would like to find out more..

Hi Demitri,

I was at Bali from 24-27 Dec and I might be able to answer your queries

1) White water rafting - I booked my rafting adventure through my driver at 30USD or Rp 300k per person. Most rafting adventures are at Sungai Ayung and there are many routes depending on which company you choose. I booked mine through Sungai Ayung Rafting (IIRC). The more expensive companies are Sobek and Bali Adventure Tours.

2) The guy in the website you mentioned is Dean and we enjoyed a huge bulk of the trip despite the bad weather because of him. He drives you around for the whole day and takes you to outskirt places driving through small lanes and valleys. In addition, he has a great sense of humour making our day out a very enjoyable one. Oh, and he's a very good photographer too haha tongue.gif His price is abit more steep compared to other drivers at Rp 450k but I guess the service makes everything worthwhile smile.gif (Btw, he helped arrange our white water rafting adventure and transportation to other places too)

Hi Cameltoe,

Thanks for the reply, so did you enjot the white water rafting?

About Dean, I'm still comtemplating to choose him or not, as per other's comment, to hire a drive, it will only cost Rp250K - 300K per day. Rp450K for Dean indeed is on the high side. Perhaps he has been made famous by the dedicated website I suppose.

Hey, will be going Bali on the 24th to 28th.
On the last day, we plan to have a free and easy day.

Is there any nearby places in walking distance near Kuta Lagoon Hotel?

Hehe, sankyou.
Cause we have around 13 of us, so maybe we will be separated.

Thanks for the information yea! XD

Added on January 5, 2008, 8:47 pmOhyeah, something to add.

On the 24th we will be reaching around 7pm+ and by the time we check out it'll be around 8pm+.

Is there any cheap and nice food around Kuta in the night? If not we have to bring our own cup noodles. Haha.

Ask around the hotel staff for good food places, the people in Bali are very friendly.

Totally!! You'll want more at the end of the 9km journey laugh.gif

Well, if other drivers are cheaper and as reliable then I'd say go for it. But with Dean, quality and good times are assured so its really up to your budget and personal preference.
