What's your recommendation then? tongue.gif

I would recommend something that authentic from Bali..
Seafood in Bali is not that good..
Jimbaran offers beautiful beach set..that's why a lot of people going there..
if you compare to seafood in Klang...the Telok Gong seafood is better ahaha brows.gif

I recommend you the Bebek Bengil Diner..in UBUD..

You can try to look for Ayam Betutu (stuffed chicken steamed in yellow spices) This one is delicious..really, there are two types.. Ayam or Bebek ( Chicken or Duck)
And the other one is Sate Lilit
it can be fish, seafood, chicken or pork..this sate lilit..must try...

If you are non muslim.. Try the suckling pig rice there..
its the local delicacies..and also Lawar Bali..you can try and google it.. I don't have the picture with me..its all with my sister.. sad.gif
Lawar bali, there is non halal and halal. Made from Young Jackfruit cooked slow in pot and then mix with chicken or pork meat, and also shreded coconut.. Just becareful, coz this food (the genuine one) is mixed with pig's blood..(RAW ONE) so please do ask if anyone ask you to eat Lawar Bali..but I guess nowadays they don't offer the one with the pig's blood anymore..only if the tourist ask then they will bring you to the spot.. I don't dare to eat it..coz the blood is raw..haha therefore i chose to eat the one without it.. it's quite good..taste like Indonesian Urap.

The good street food is in Tanah Lot..! If u go there..try to search for Sate Penyu (Turtle satay).. an old lady usually sat infront of the entrance and grilled the satay.. its really good!!!! smile.gif

Yes it is expensive in Kuta. Food prices are almost 1.25X those in KL (Expecting Rp15K fried rice in Kuta or cheapest ~rp12K) & souvenir & stuff u really need to bargain kaw-kaw! atleast 100%!! If starting price =Rp20K try bargain till Rp10K or less

For souvenir goto Sukawati market or some say Ubud souvenir market too. For wood carving and limited choices but damn cheap, bargain kaw-kaw wth the street pest (vendor) at Kintamani/Tegalang..u will be suprise to get 10 pieces of decorated souvenir pencil for RM1 & nice wood carving for less than RM20! which was retailing & after bargain at Kuta averaging RM50-RM100....but beware..they are really pest!...pulling u & follow u whenever u go until u close the car door..u will be lucky if u managed to close the door! biggrin.gif

Not so sure..I'm not into clubbing anyway. But what I did was enter Hardrock hotel & just watch the singer performed on stage from the lobby...no need to enter...FOC this way!...But dun expect to be long there-lah... biggrin.gif + look see-look see at the souvenir shop beside the pub/cafe.

One thing for sure - Food in Kuta is about 1.5X KL price...including their McD!... shocking.gif However if ur stomach can take, go for road side seller -damn dirty but food price is 1/2 of KL!

Yes there are..esp at poppy lane 2 but dun expect it will be cheap although it is just a warong...The cheapest u can get probably ~Rp10K (RM4) for a simple nasi goreng at a normal warung. avg nasi goreng will be around rp12K-15K. (RM5-RM7). It is easier to rent a motobike there & roam Bali which is much convenient...in outskirt & even in Denpasar, u will be suprise that the food are much more cheaper! 1/2 of what u get in Kuta!- Or u wnated to know avg food price, drop at the newly opened Carrefour at Sunset road & try the foodcourt....the price is cheaper than hawker food in Kuta shocking.gif

USD is not widely use in Bali....Rupiah bro. biggrin.gif ..U can also change to USD but what the point when u need to convert again hmm.gif ..But FYI, certain rate offer in Kuta is very tempting! U can change MYR to Rupiah better than the best in KL..but heard lotsa scary con job there..i.e shortchange u and this is very common!!

Was in Bali from 15th-18th on a full board package tour

Highlights
1) Excellent scenery of mountain, temples, oceans..
2) found myself staring at numerous fit surfer dude with washboard stomach..my bf not too happy though
3) delicious spare ribs and spicy crabs at Kori Rest
4) had a lovely spa experience at green garden

Downlights
1) it's so so hot, i must have sweated tons there..please do drink lotsa water, bring umbrellas, wear hats unless you're aiming for a tan
2) don't ever go on a package tour, diy much better. as you all probably know, they bring you here n there to shop
3) most of the times, food sucks with flies hovering over us.
on our last day, we went to Kori on our own..
4) got attacked by banana ladies at i forgot where, they just peel off a banana and shove it real close to my mouth and darn stupid me natural reaction is to chomp on it then hafta buy at RM3.80 a bunch
5) was persuaded into buying a bag at RM10, the zipper won't work after a day

pardon me for complaining too much
i'm planning to go again next year, hopefully much wiser than before
there are loads of things we didn't get to do for eg. water activities

Added on December 6, 2007, 4:36 pmJust booked thru airasia to Bali at 339/pax travelling Oct 16-20 '08.
I just realised after booking that there will be an event called Asian Beach Games to be held from 18-26 Oct. I hope it won't affect me as I plan to stay in Ubud.
