what mechanical keyboard / gaming keyboard i can get below RM 100 or the max RM 200?
*
i think you will need to add abit more for Rosewill Mechanical keyboard, as i remember they are around RM2xx? i might be wrong.

additional choice would be getting from taobao.

hardcore mkb collectors/modders would prefer something niche instead of standard mass produced product
*
some is due to the limitation of the PCB board(they don't have pre-ready LED holes for add-on.)

QUOTE(vincent09 @ May 20 2013, 11:03 AM)
Sorry for repeat my question, anyone can give suggestion that is it the Black PBT will get shine through like white PBT or rainbow PBT?
Just want to get a Black PBT that just shine underglow.
*
May i get what's the meaning of getting shine? you mean thru the age of using, will it get shiny overtime?

or you mean that the keycaps reflective light from opposite light source due to coating?

added : post doesn't auto merge anymore?, i didn't tick "do not combine"

Opps, is shine through by led light.
*
it will have to depends on what type of PBT that you're going to purchase, if you're getting the IMSTO THICK PBT, i don't really think alot of light will goes thru the keycap itself.(the thicker the keycap, the lesser the light source will pass thru)

White or Rainbow is more possible if it compares to Black for the light source to pass thru the keycap. As they are more brighter in color.

I personally don't recommend black if you're doing this setup, due to the fact that, when you're using black ABS/PBT, and light source to pass thru, you will notice there's a cross that support stem.(it looks ugly to me)

i think China Taobao do sell those keycap that can let light source pass thru, but as for IMSTO Thick PBT, you will have to ask users here that already own those keycap to test it before you're going to purchase.

I see, I just scare like as you say the light shine through the black PBT and see the support stem cross, for me white is ok, but black I need to cover all the light just glow from below.  smile.gif
Is hard to see the shine through effect for Black PBT image, mostly they show is underglow but didn't mention is thick or normal black PBT.  sweat.gif

Thank you Cyclonechuah, I keep continue check for that. tongue.gif

if the light source is just medium, and not "really really really" strong, i don't think you will need to worry about that.

I thought you're gonna do rainbow key glow by using LED inside. i saw quite a few people successfully do it, damn nice with the key glowing.

*

From mechanicalkeyboard.com I did understand that ALPS mechanical switches are way cheaper compared to MX switches, but at the moment the trend is going towards Cherry MX switches due to its popularity and easier to get keycaps for modding especially from Taobao.
*
yeah, i know, it's just that, some members here might not have the money to spend RM250 above for a mechanical keyboard, and alps might prove to be a friendly alternative, if they aren't considering about modding the keyboard.

But as for us, that thinks about modding the keyboard... well... you know. tongue.gif

anyone know whether a white colour keyboard chassis/case will discolour overtime?
*
If you're using a ABS keyboard, and under the exposure of Sunlight, the keyboard will get yellowish overtime.

As far as i know, all keyboards are using ABS plastic for chassis, there's no keyboard that uses PBT as chassis. So.... you know.. >_>

topre pbt feels smooth, for china taobao pbt, it feels slippery, so both its a different feel, but regarding about ducky pbt, i cannot confirm because i never tried it.

topre pbt has a sandblasted surface, it feels smooth, but not slippery.
china pbt has a sanded surface created by chemical, which you will feel it's slippery even thou it has a sanded texture.

p.s : coating might be contributed to the slippery, which i am not sure.

well, i`m quite interested in the DK9008G3Pro-PBT Series, there's Grey and Blue Grey Version PBT Dyesub Keycap.

Ducky Keycaps are manufactured in Taiwan, new manufacturer possibly, from KBC Investment or contribution. Althou they are somewhat related to KBC China, still it doesn't use KBC's Keycap Manufacturer from China.
