it will have to depends on what type of PBT that you're going to purchase, if you're getting the IMSTO THICK PBT, i don't really think alot of light will goes thru the keycap itself.(the thicker the keycap, the lesser the light source will pass thru)

White or Rainbow is more possible if it compares to Black for the light source to pass thru the keycap. As they are more brighter in color.

I personally don't recommend black if you're doing this setup, due to the fact that, when you're using black ABS/PBT, and light source to pass thru, you will notice there's a cross that support stem.(it looks ugly to me)

i think China Taobao do sell those keycap that can let light source pass thru, but as for IMSTO Thick PBT, you will have to ask users here that already own those keycap to test it before you're going to purchase.

I see, I just scare like as you say the light shine through the black PBT and see the support stem cross, for me white is ok, but black I need to cover all the light just glow from below.
Is hard to see the shine through effect for Black PBT image, mostly they show is underglow but didn't mention is thick or normal black PBT.

if the light source is just medium, and not "really really really" strong, i don't think you will need to worry about that.

I thought you're gonna do rainbow key glow by using LED inside. i saw quite a few people successfully do it, damn nice with the key glowing.

For black PBT, LED light definitely won't be able to shine through the keycap's surface.
You will definitely get the underglow shine effect with black PBT keycaps.

You can actually search from this thread whereby I did post up my ducky TKL (yellow light) with PBT keycaps, the light did underglow effect to the keyboard.

From mechanicalkeyboard.com I did understand that ALPS mechanical switches are way cheaper compared to MX switches, but at the moment the trend is going towards Cherry MX switches due to its popularity and easier to get keycaps for modding especially from Taobao.

yeah, i know, it's just that, some members here might not have the money to spend RM250 above for a mechanical keyboard, and alps might prove to be a friendly alternative, if they aren't considering about modding the keyboard.

But as for us, that thinks about modding the keyboard... well... you know.

Agree bro, but it is still advisable to pay out slightly more to get a cherry mx switch keyboard, for future modding, otherwise regret later might end up spending more in selling off the APLS and buying Cherry MX

Ya black mounting plate. If you are planning to put on blue LEDs, imsto thick PBT will reflects the light nicely in my opinion.

The poker2 comes with thick PBT if I m not mistaken...

I just got my Filco today.

Poker 2 is with full set thick PBT keycaps + 6 units RGB thick PBT.

And also they are still using steel plate at the bottom (not like the one shown in pre-released review using sticker only)
