Hey guys,

I got my S4 about 2 weeks ago and now my S4 is having a self-reboot issue.
I realise that it will reboot itself whenever i load applications, even switching the camera from secondary to primary caused my phone to restart itself for god knows what reason.......

Anyone else facing the same issue?

Yup! All downloaded from play store hahaha, so I guess that is considered ori?

It happens mostly when I load apps and tap away really fast lol....

OH GOD! I thought I was the only one facing the auto reboot issue! Lol.

The first couple of times when it auto restarted itself, I figured it was because I loaded too many apps. But it happened more often on apps that utilises the camera.........

Anyways, I just did a factory reset, and now I have a new issue. My system sound and lock screen sound now sounds like the S3 (the ripple sound). I want my magical S4 sound back.. Anyone has any idea?

Anyone had any luck with the random reboot issue? It's driving me bonkers that everytime I try to use the camera, it freezes and then randomly restarts itself...

Before I FDR my S4 yesterday, it detected a software update to which I allowed it to update (that was end of last week). But the problem still persisted. So I'm really not sure what is the cause now...I had hoped the update would help but it did not.

Went back to the store I bought it from all they could tell me was to go to Samsung's service centre....so I guess that is where I will be heading to...

Just wondering if any of those who are facing the same problem has taken theirs to the service centre and what was the outcome...

Okay, so last Wednesday, I had some majorly frequent S4 restarting issues. Each time I used the camera (especially switching from back to front camera), it will freeze and reboot itself. I couldn't even use the barcode scanner without it freezing itself up. I did a FDR but the problem still persisted.

On Thursday, I called the Samsung Call Centre and was dealt with a very impatient person who looked forward to ending the call than helping a customer

So, I took my phone to Samsung @ Gardens (KL) as they have a technician there for software related issues. I was told that they will help me to reinstall the entire software and it would take up to 2 hours. I had asked on what was the difference between a re-installation of the software and a FDR. They mentioned something about FDR only affects one section/partition where else the re-installation will be from A-Z (Maybe someone here can shed some light on how true this is).

I wasn't able to find out more on the cause of the random reboot as by the time my phone was ready, the technician had gone home.

I've been actively testing the camera out and so far, it was alright. I thought it was fixed until it restarted itself again today.... -.-

But the re-installation did reduce the frequency of the random reboot. So probably it is a software related issue? I'm not sure.

I feel like we should gather everyone who is facing this issue and march into the service centre together lol.

Upon resetting my phone, I only installed Whatsapp to determine if certain apps were the cause of the random reboot. But when I tried using my camera, it froze and rebooted.

It was then that I sent my phone to the service centre and they reinstalled the entire software. After that, the frequency of the random reboot lessen even with all my funky apps installed.

I sent mine to Samsung @ Gardens (KL) as they have a technician there for software related purposes. But you can choose to directly go to the service centre in PJ (near the Federal Highway) or the one located at Pandan Capital Shopping Complex if you're from KL. I heard the service centre in lowyat is closed due to renovations.

The re-installation of the software took about 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hrs to complete.

Samsung at the Gardens is a store+service centre (for software) so I brought mine there. No point bringing back to the place u bought ur phone as they will tell you to bring it to a service centre.
To be safe, just bring yours over to a designated service centre

That was what the technician told me. It helped reduce the frequency of the random reboot. So far my phone is alright even with me actively using my camera. It happened once out of say....30-40 times using my camera compared to once out of 5 times previously lol
