judging from the theme of this year's Merdeka, which is "Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku", i could say those tanks would certainly be in the parade..especially AV8 and Pendekar..if not then most likely they would at least show the Adnans that they use in LD..and i'm guessing there would be a lot of appearances from VAT69 in the parade to remember their fallen comrades in LD..

KUALA LUMPUR: Police – armed with the Crime Prevention Act to detain suspects – have begun a major crackdown against gangsters and criminals.

Ops Cantas (Cut-Off) is under way in Ampang and will be expanded to cover other districts in the Klang Valley before going nationwide.

Fifteen suspects have already been picked up under the operation, with 49 police personnel from Ampang Jaya and four from Bukit Aman manning roadblocks in various areas.

The operation follows a directive from Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar for police districts to step up anti-crime activities due to the recent spate of shootings and robberies.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the operation would be held daily from midnight to 5am to deter crime and “make the people feel safe”.

“We were briefed by the IGP on Friday night on the crackdown. Police will use Section 3 of the Crime Prevention Act to detain and interrogate suspects,” he told The Star yesterday.

ACP Amiruddin said under the Act, police could detain suspects for up to 14 days without trial with the option of extending the detention for another 14 days.

“We also have a crime prevention unit looking out for suspicious characters,” he added.

ACP Amiruddin said police detained a man with a stolen motorcycle in Hulu Kelang.

The man is wanted in four other cases.

He said police detained two men with walkie-talkies, gloves, a knife, 0.48gm of syabu and 0.97gm of Erimin 5, and tools believed to be used for burglaries in Taman Mela­wati.

“We detained another man near Kampung Baru Cina Ampang and recovered a motorcycle which was reported stolen in Kajang recently,” he added.

ACP Amiruddin said police would continue with the operation until there was a reduction in crimes.

Penang cops gun down 5 members of notorious gang



GEORGE TOWN: Police here have shot dead five men who are believed to be members of the notorious Geng 04.

The shootout occurred at 5am Monday, at an apartment in Sungai Nibong.

The five, believed to be in their 20s, were said to have been involved in the recent spate of shooting cases in the state this year.

Police had been monitoring their activities before moving in on a unit on the 11th floor of the building early Monday.

It is learnt that police have seized three pistols from the scene.

Police officers knocked on the door of the apartment but there was no response. They retaliated when the suspects opened fire from the inside of the apartment.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar is expected to hold a press conference in the afternoon over the incident.

A recent spate of shootings in the state and various parts of the country have sparked speculation of a gangland war.

On Aug 8, K. Veerappan, a 37-year-old scrap dealer believed to be associated with Gang 36, was shot dead when he stopped the car he was driving near a traffic light in Anson Road.

A motorcyclist rode up and the pillion rider whipped out a pistol and fired 14 shots, 10 of which hit Veerappan's neck, cheek and abdomen.

Earlier the same day, a gunman fired at least six shots at a businessman's bungalow in Jalan Utama. No one was injured in the incident, believed to be a triad's warning to the businessman.

On Aug 9, a third shooting occurred in the state, in Jalan Datuk Keramat, where a 43-year-old bouncer was hit in the left thigh.

A gunman fired seven shots but only one hit the victim, believed to be one of the top leaders of the Si Lian (Four Tyres), also known as Geng 04.

17 Ogos 2013 – Pencegahan Jenayah adalah peranan dan fungsi Pasukan Polis sebagaimana termaktub dalam Seksyen 3(3) Akta Polis 1967. Pencegahan Jenayah dilaksanakan melalui 2 cara, iaitu tindakan sebelum berlakunya jenayah dan tindakan selepas berlakunya jenayah.

Walaupun terdapat penurunan kadar jenayah ini tidak bermakna masyarakat di negara ini boleh berasa selesa dan selamat, sebaliknya kita semua perlu terus bekerjasama mengembelingkan usaha bagi membendung jenayah.

Tindakan pencegahan jenayah sebelum berlakunya jenayah adalah yang paling penting di mana tanggungjawab ini seharusnya dipikul bersama oleh masyarakat dan tidak meletakkan tanggungjawab sepenuhnya kepada pihak Polis.

Justeru itu, pada hari ini Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah (JSJ) telah memulakan operasi bagi mencegah jenayah dengan menubuhkan satu pasukan khas yang dinamakan Op Cantas Khas, dibawah tanggungjawab ACP Kamarulzaman bin Mamat, Penolong Pengarah Tahanan/Sekatan D7B, Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah dan dibantu oleh Supt. Amir Rasid bin Derani, Superintendan Pencegahan D7A, Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Bukit Aman.

Buat permulaan, tumpuan diberikan kepada Kontinjen Kuala Lumpur, Selangor dan juga Negeri Sembilan dan ianya akan berterusan di semua kontinjen-kontinjen.

Usaha berterusan Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah yang dibantu dengan kekuatan pegawai dan anggota dari daerah-daerah yang terlibat ini adalah sebahagian daripada pencegahan jenayah.

Walaupun ia seolah-olah menyusahkan pengguna jalanraya di sekitar ibu kota dan Selangor, matlamatnya adalah baik, iaitu dapat membanteras penjenayah melalui pemeriksaan terhadap kenderaan dan individu di sekatan jalanraya.

19 Ogos 2013, Georgtown Pulau Pinang – Satu Sidang Media kes tembakan telah diambil oleh Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Dato Sri Khalid Bin Abu Bakar di Pusat Media Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen Pulau Pinang. Turut hadir Pengarah Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah, Dato Abd Hadi Ho Bin Abdullah, Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang Dato Abd Rahim Bin Hj. Hanafi dan Ketua – Ketua Jabatan, serta Ketua – ketua Polis Daerah. Kejadian dimana Pasukan Polis daripada Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Ibu Pejabat Polis Pulau Pinang , Bukit Aman dan JSJ IPK Kedah telah membuat serbuan di sebuah Aparment kawasan Sungai Nibong Pulau Pinang. Ekoran daripada kejadian tembak – menembak diantara pihak Polis dan penjenayah lima penjenayah telah mati ditembak dan Polis merampas tiga Pucuk Pistol. Kumpulan penjenayah ini disyaki terlibat dengan lima kes bunuh dan dua kes cuba bunuh di kawasan Pulau Pinang, dua kes bunuh di Kedah dan satu kes bunuh di Negeri Sembilan.
