FULLERTON, Calif., Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ThalesRaytheonSystems today announced full system acceptance has been finalized with the Royal Malaysian Air Force for the Malaysian Air Defense Ground Environment Sector Operations Center III (MADGE) Program. ThalesRaytheonSystems provided the Malaysian Ministry of Defence an enhanced national command and control system.

"The C2 system we've executed in Malaysia represents technological integration at its best," said Kim Kerry, CEO of U.S. Operations for ThalesRaytheonSystems. "We worked with our Malaysian customers to integrate their legacy system and have augmented it with proven technologies, such as the Sentry® command and control system and the Ground Master 400 (GM 400) radar. The result is a system that reliably and effectively meets their requirements."

The MADGE system operates in real-time and features multi-radar tracking and a flexible human-machine interface. The GM 400 radar will provide additional long-range surveillance capabilities for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

ThalesRaytheonSystems has more installed command and control systems operating around the world than any other organization. The Sentry command and control system is a proven, comprehensive, real-time system that powers national air sovereignty systems around the world, including the NORAD Battle Control System. The company is also a world leader in battlefield and weapon-locating radar systems. The company's radar capabilities span short-, medium-, and long-range systems. The ground-based radars are capable of detecting both conventional and unconventional threats for homeland and tactical air defense, counter-battery, and weapons system coordination.

About ThalesRaytheonSystems

The GM406 is the most powerful in the series, and the radar could provide target designation to intercept SRBM (approximately 300 km).

PORT KLANG, June 6 (Bernama) -- Three students who received scholarships to pursue degree courses at three prestigous military institutions in the United States are keen to impart new military knowledge and skills to help improve professional competence in the country.

Mohamad Aidil Shafiq Abd Aziz, Muzaffar Abdul Halim and Santos J. Jayagopal were accepted to attend four-year degree programmes at the US Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York; the US Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Maryland; and the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, respectively.

The cadets from the Malaysian National Defence University have been awarded with a RM1 million scholarship each to study and train at the military academies.

Mohamad Aidil, 19, said he was looking forward to learn on handling high-technology military equipment which could be useful for Malaysia's military development.

"I am also eager to learn aboutthe US military work culture which can be applied in our local military operations," he told reporters after receiving acceptance letters from Admiral Samuel J. Locklear during a grand ceremony on board the visiting USS Blue Ridge at the Port Klang Cruise Centre, here last night.

Muzaffar said receiving the award and receiving it on board a battleship was an over-the-top experience for him.

The 18-year-old, who was born in Sarawak, had been to many parts of the country due to this father's job.

"My father is in the military, hence, we moved a lot," he said, adding that his father was his main inspiration in his dream of becoming a good soldier someday.

"It is just great to receive this award. I'm going to study hard, learn all that I can from the US navy and bring my knowledge back here," the eldest of four said.

Meanwhile, Santos, 19, who went by the "Difficult Situation Yes, Impossible No" motto, said he was honoured to receive the award.

"I hope I will be somebody to serve the country someday," he said.

Admiral Samuel said the scholarships will allow the Malaysian students to learn more about the navy while further strengthening ties between the two countries.

According to a statement from the US embassy, 20 Malaysians have graduated from various US service academies since 1991.

However, it said Malaysia has not had a candidate in the USAFA for the last 19 years.

Is the most fundamental issue. If they don't get it they will come back in body bags very very soon.
