Just receive my Y510p (with SSD, non-SLI) yesterday. Not much time to play with it but it seems to have problem connecting to my home Asus router. Bring it along to office today and it doesn't seems to have problem with D-Link router. sweat.gif

The finishing is classy and nice, boot up real fast with Windows 8. But going to downgrade to Windows 7 to run CAD software.

Always match the receipt to your set (US set must have US receipt. Malaysia set must have Malaysia receipt). Only this way international warranty can claim
*
so those AP sets sellers claiming the AP sets has international warranty are just misleading us? Actually i did input my Y510p's serial number in the Malaysia Lenovo website and it indicate a valid 1 year warranty. But I dun know what is the actual situation when really need to RMA at local service centre. Finger cross i never need to RMA it. sweat.gif

BTW, tested with some games yesterday, BF3 only fine to play in 1680x1050 in single player campaign, Full HD will bring a black blank screen. For multi-player, after loading into games, straight black blank screen, any reso won't help. I do see some playing BF3 with it at Youtube though. I already updated my video driver to the latest.

Test Company of Heroes 2 - can only play in all setting low in FHD. My Y510p is single GPU only. Took out the original hard disk and put a Plextor m5s 128 SSD inside and loaded Windows 7. Will get a hard disk caddy for the original 1tb hard disk and do dual boot. biggrin.gif

The exhaust fan is blowing out hot air while gaming but no very noticeable higher noise. The left hand palm-rest area is heating up during gaming too.

About the HDD caddy you mentioned, is it going to be the original from Lenovo or any brand of caddy will work? As for Y500 and Y510 are designed for SLi so is the connector port is same or different then what you see on Y580?
*
I am not very sure whether can get a compatible hard disk caddy from third party. Will get the original one from Lenovo if cannot find a compatible one.

3rd party caddy will not work on UltraBay models... the design is very specific and the connector location is different...

Athlon888@garage confirm that his will work with Y510p as there was 2 Y510p users tested the drive in his presence before they bought it. Since he give money back guarantee if it is not compatible, I just bought one from him and will be receiving it next week. I will report back how's the result after i fix it in the Y510p. smile.gif

Update on the hard disk caddy i bought from Athlon888 for my Y510p: It works perfectly and i modded it with the plastic cover of the original DVD-drive. So it looks original as the original. biggrin.gif Saving hundred of dollars on the original hard disk caddy. Now the Y510p boot from SSD with Windows 7 or original Windows 8. thumbup.gif

Any recommended sleeve for Y510p? Looking for a simple padded sleeve for the Y510p. Most of the sleeve in garage are tailored for 11-14" laptop/macbook.

By brute force. tongue.gif just use a small head screw driver like a test-pen to ply one side. Then it will just comes out. thumbup.gif There are 2 small plastic tabs holding it. Ply them open.

when u said use brute force, i try again. It success, and i manage to see the locks. But... One of them has been broken by me tongue.gif thx.

opps... your brute force is too powerful. As i couldm't stand the cacat look of the replacement drive cage, i can't help but just rip the bezel apart. Luckily mine still ok.

It is not with me anymore, bought it for my brother for office CAD/CAM works. biggrin.gif
