If I'm not wrong, if u wish to change to intel wifi, u need to:
- get the intel wifi card compatible with Lenovo model.
- flashed modded bios to remove the wlan whitelist, pls check with Aisheep
Guide here: At ur own risk

Not easy lol... sweat.gif

Both also not easy. sweat.gif
u need to get a compatible intel wifi card for Y400 since not all intel wifi card can be used even with the same model. Steps to unlock the bios are very risky and not easy to master for a newbie. laugh.gif

I've a wifi extender, so, it's not a big issue for me.

if you follow instructions given, you will not bye bye to your laptop.

As long you BACKUP your bios, you can revert back. Not so big deal.

Flashing only takes like 15 minutes or less and it is reversible. What you need is a 4 Gb pendrive make it bootable into MS-DOS. Type few commands :3

Try it will not harm your computer, what you need is a steady calm mind to read instructions :3

mess up the BIOS, your laptop will not boot anymore... backing up BIOS is useful if you somehow don't like the new BIOS but it's useless if you somehow messed up the flashing procedure and your laptop becomes a super-duper-expensive-paper-weight, thus the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

but nowadays, the only way I can think of to get the flashing procedure wrong is by having the power supply interrupted while flashing, so as long as you good battery running in your laptop no need to worry much... Other than that, maybe if you're using removable drive to store the flashing utilities, make sure it won't get removed accidentally... got this covered, usually not much can mess you up....

the power supply interruption always haunts me when I'm flashing new BIOS on desktops since I dont have UPS and there's no guarantee the power in my house going to be ok...
