i'm using MSI AfterBurner..mind show me how to OC?  biggrin.gif
*
MSI AB has the slider thingy right..? tongue.gif Just slide a lil bit... Let's say, 10MHz more on intervals until you're happy with how it performs... Don't go all the way up otherwise you'll suffer from throttling (Have not experienced this yet on the Y500, but the old M15x throttles like mad).

QUOTE(Beatmasta @ May 24 2013, 05:48 PM)
ahhhh just as simple like that only? dang i thought those works on Desktop GPU ohhh its the same principle OC on Laptop GPU oso ya..i see..
*
Yeap, just install and play... tongue.gif

8gb you are limited later when you run alot apps. so will lag too.
im on x64 bits.

so 8gb with 64x = just okok. so need another 16 to smooth juice.

added a ssd too. tongue.gif

So.... unsure.gif Not a must if I'm not a heavy multitasker lah~? tongue.gif

Is that another msata slot on top of the WiFi card?? o.o
Sorry for asking something stupid :/

because the layout looks different than other Y500 dissembled pictures.
*
You meant this one (highlighted in blue)..?

I opened my Y500 before and I don't see any connectors there apart from the WiFi card beside it... hmm.gif or maybe we can splice the mSATA connectors and add in a second one. brows.gif

Comparison with the primary mSata slot.

Addon : After having scrutinised between both slots, I highly doubt the one beside the UB connector is a mSATA socket. It doesn't look the same at all. blink.gif

Lol, from the youtube videos ( Viewed a lot of them ) the 20-40 hasn't much difference, I'm not gonna spend RM800++ on a graphics card that does not at least double/nearly double the fps, I might as well get a PC, don't you think?
*
An increase of 40 fps is good for mobile gamers liao if they play demanding games...

Desktop..? No fun carrying a tower + peripherals to Starbucks/airport/kopitiam liao~ whistling.gif

It's so cliche mar... Tired with everyone's mentality of saying "mau performance get desktop lah".

Yes, desktop > mobile, but common sense that most power users who want power on the go will opt for this instead of lugging a tower everywhere, no? doh.gif

Even with AirAsia's 7kg limit for hand carry luggage also with our lappy already taking 2.7kg liao... If tower amacam~? tongue.gif Cannot play in-flight also since no power port for the PSU onboard. whistling.gif

PS: Not raging at anyone in particular... laugh.gif Just venting out my personal frustrations on people's mentality towards performance lappies vs desktops. whistling.gif

As bad as Y580's thermal design, still better than average laptops... and my first laptops I've owned that has pretty good differences with external coolers, might not be much but for laptops, it pretty good..

Since Y500, the thermal design has improved so much...
*
Wonder if applying some new thermal paste would further improve the cooling performance... hmm.gif

Wanted to pry open my unit but can't seem to find the screws holding the mobo in the chassis.

Maybe I should test it on the Ultrabay one first before proceeding with the dissection of the lappy. tongue.gif

Some china guy posted pictures and claimed that he got the test unit of the new Y410 which will be the upgrade version for Y400.
I think Y500 might have a upgrade version too, soon.
*
Well, the Chinese usually get the goodies from early on so it might be legit.. hmm.gif
Saw a hands-on video on BB's Porsche Design mobile way before it was released to the market. ohmy.gif
