Hey guys... unsure.gif

I started up my laptop as usual this morning and came to realise that the speakers are not producing any sound at all... Plugged in my headset and there's sound coming out but the speakers are not.

Speakers dead..? What gives~? Common issue or...??? unsure.gif icon_question.gif

Edit : Nevermind, reinstalled audio driver and gave the speaker a good whacking and it's back to normal again... Phew~ sweat.gif

Nah, the old one with 650m... tongue.gif
So far never reached beyond 80'C yet... On average it's usually around 6x-ish with extended gameplay reaching 7x-ish...

can you guys gimme a bit recommendation on which model should i take..

-i want a long lasting laptop
-im a casual gamer
-does touch screen really matter or just a marketing gimmick??
-budget around 2.5K but can topup lil bit
-light and not bulky design is most welcomed biggrin.gif
-all those model got backlit keyboard right??
-large screen better or not??
*
1. Depends on how you treat it... My old Acer junk still working since '08. My AW died after serving me since '09 a month back, hence my decision to acquire the Y500 in the first place.

2. Casual gamer..? Define your level of 'casual' as I know of some friends who are casual gamers as well but they emphasise on either the visual aspect or the game or just the fun of it. So sorry there mate, hard to pinpoint casual from my POV here.

3. Personally I don't see the point of touchscreen on lappies. Sure, it's nice to have but it's NOT exactly a necessity. It's obviously needed on tabs and little slabs we call as smartphones but on a laptop..? Nah, we already have a physical keyboard and external mouse for gaming already.

4. You can't go wrong with the Y400 with that budget of yours. nod.gif

5. Heck, I don't even find my Y500 to be bulky at all. It's a major improvement from my old M15x which was a friggin' block of mass.

6. I know Y has it, others I've yet to look on.

7. Depends on your personal preference. Some like it small and compact, some like it big. Keep in mind that bigger screen tend to put a little more load on your GPU as it'll have to cover the pixel real estate. But with today's standards of the GPU, it's not really that noticeable.

tldr : Your own cash, go "test drive" some demo units before deciding. brows.gif

Edit : Grammar and spacing. doh.gif

when you're running games in FHD, all effects are max? 650 SLI?

Everyone seems moody with the weather around me these days... unsure.gif and I feel woozy lately too... blink.gif

Well, don't expect it to run Crysis 3 with everything maxed out but Crysis (original one) looked neat with everything turned to the highest possible setting. brows.gif

planning to get y500 hehe smile.gif
*
Burned..? I OC-ed my old M15x (mind you that lappy runs way hotter than my current Y500) for 4 years and it runs fine. GPU's still healthy some more with me leaving it on 24/7... brows.gif

yea touchpad is 1 of the worse I've used. not sensitive and very hard to navigate around.
the plus point is, I dont need to enable the setting "disable touchpad when a mouse is plugged in" as it didnt affect me when gaming / typing so far...

i've been using wifi since day 1... so far so good.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Dunno lor... My old M15x macam crap nia the touchpad... Unresponsive, no multitouch and sluggish. cry.gif
Maybe I'm not "pro" enough to judge the current touchpad. blush.gif

yea... one of... I've tried ASUS, Toshiba, Apple Macbook, all are better better in terms of responsiveness and built quality. kinda hate these "one-piece" touchpads laptops have nowadays. whats wrong with 1 touchpad with 2 buttons?

companies are trying too hard to imitate Apple. but they never do their best, just copy for the sake of copying. doh.gif
they should at least try to make it as responsive / user friendly as macbook touchpad, or just stick with old designs.
I have a friend's ASUS ultrabook, the one-piece touchpad gives a vibrating feel each time u tap on it , like it's hollow / something's missing underneath  shakehead.gif
*
Ah, so that's what you mean... ohmy.gif
I thought you meant by the responsiveness... tongue.gif

err... both actually... responsiveness and built quality  unsure.gif
*
Oh... unsure.gif
Well, can't say for responsiveness as I feel that it's quite okay for me... The AW one needs more pressure for it to detect my swipes~
