all the detected malware should i remove? worry that it will delete some important files
*
Herdprotect uses many anti-malware scan engines. Means it sents you files to 68 anti-malware (anti-virus) companies to be scan. Its very extensive the scan.

What you should do is for every infected file you click on it and above it will have its recommendation on what you should do.

Looking at your screen shot I would say they are not windows system files and can be deleted or if the option is available quarantine it.

Guys guys,

Which model should I take
Y410p 8gb ram w8 14" hd
Or
Y510p 8gb ram w8.1 15.6" fhd

Specs are same except for the display and screen size

Is the display on the y510p a lot better than y410p? Like noticeably better if watching a 108p video, is It worth the extra cash for the 15 inch ?
*
Just look around at display units, full HD vs half HD. Does not have to be Lenovo any brand will do. You just want to get a feel only ma. My opinion is that half HD (720p) would be more suitable for smaller screens cause if small screen but full HD text on windows default text size is very small, on a bigger screen its much better. If watching video and playing games is what you do most on that laptop the of course full HD on any size screen is better. The
graphics is so much better and refine. All depends on you. Go to any shop with display units and just take a look and have a feel. Best way, what is good for us might not be so for you.

why FHD ahh Y50? It's too much. Games would run like sh*t.

Nope. Wasn't enough. 860M GTX still can't perform that good in 4k resolutions. 4k itself cramps a lot of hardware.
surely 1080p is orait but I'm talking about 4k here. Still is, 860M didn't run that fast in 1080p, that's why I stay away with 1080p. 900p is the maximum reso I would push, more than that probably for surfing or editing videos, that might help much.
*
You sure bo? My 650m sli which is bout a GTX 660 (if not mistaken, too lazy to google) can do 1080p med-high setting for World of Tanks and high for Warframe. You are talking about GPU's which is about 2 generations ahead wor?

If that is the case nvidia is making good money by just rebranding and marketing le.

Wanna ask, does Lenovo Y500 support dual hardisk? Coz I wanna add SDD beside the 1TB hdd
*
Take out the 2nd GPU and use a caddy for your 2nd HDD. Or get msata (SSD) then original HDD, keep your 2nd GPU. But msata quite hard to find if you after large capacity unless things have change.

650m SLI is roughly equal to 675m. Yeah but 1080p already cannot go full settings wanna go for a higher FHD? Surely kura-kura speed mehhh

FHD is not a total bullshrite (but it was a total one in smartphones, stupid move) but it tends to be overhyped. No need for 4k, at least for now.
*
Its full HD la the screen. 1080p=1920x1080. WOT is a funny game. You go forums guys with new desktops setup also complaining about why they cannot get high graphic settings.

Will 1080p look blur on 4k 15inch? Or will it look just like a normal 1080p 15 inch screen
*
I am also wondering. But till now I still haven't seen any 4k lappies yet. Know any brands who has done it. would not mind going to Lowyat and kei poh with the demo sets there. At times its better looking at the real thing than just reading reviews.

I saw the samsung 4k tv sets in desa home a few months ago. Wow the picture was drool.gif even for a huge display.

Thanks for the replies,  can I get the keyboard fixed under warranty??
I guess I will stop doing that, 1 Hour commute on the train with nothing to do s:
*
even a cheap android phone can surf and listen to mp3 already what. Take an expansive notebook and abuse like you did surely shows how you value your stuffs. Hope you learn a lesson. Try the SC for your keyboard but not sure what they will say when they see the condition of your notebook. Remember warranty is subjected to condition of the computer and not all issues can be claimed for warranty even if its still valid.

Go try never know.

I know I can boot up a lot faster if I switch to SSD..
But if the staff said that my warranty will be void if it was changed (is there SSD version ready for this laptop???hmm) and I used it mainly for university staff...
So I don't think it is necessary to get one....
*
Go buy the SSD and ask Lowyat SC staff to help install then ma no problem with warranty lo but OS have to be ori ya.

because dumb question.
just buy a SSD if you want speed.
if you want space and speed, get a 7200rpm hard disk drive.....else dont bother, they're all the same
*
SSHD should be a good balance for speed and storage.

Was trying to look for something like this

http://www.amazon.com/HGST-Travelstar-2-5-...e/dp/B0097LG9U8
*
That is just a normal 7200rpm HDD. I think a SSHD will give you better performance. But price for the 7200rpm disk is much lower.

How much better is a 5400rpm SSHD compared to a normal 7200rpm HDD?

I've already done some research about the difference. But most of the examples that I've seen only shows the start up and shutdown speed.

What I really want to know is if it makes a difference in gaming, video editing and multitasking ?
*
Well if you are already set on a 7200rpm HDD then go get it. I remember reading that most manufacturers have stop or will discontinue 7200rpm HDD for notebooks. That was why I suggested fast fast get it.

I think gaming and multitasking just a slight difference. For video editing I would suggest a SSD.

But then its my 2cents worth of advise.

Given two identically designed hard drives with the same areal densities, a 7200rpm drive will deliver date about 33% faster than the 5400rpm drive for copying file and video editing.

What brands c/w 7200rpm HDDs? Lenovo? MSI? Asus?
*
For current models none (Somebody correct mme if I'm wrong). This is because most manufactures are using battery operating hours as a selling point and a 7200rpm HDD will use a lot more power than a 5400rpm HDD. That is why soon 7200rpm notebook HDD will be extinct.

Guys.. sorry to disturb, I can't find any thread related to S410p here. Can I know if any of u guys have issues with Lenovo's keyboard software? My ideapad have a weird problem with this, when i press the brightness key for my lcd.. i don't get any animation or notification on my screen that i am reducing/increasing my brightness & everytime i disable the touchpad using the shortcut key... my touchpad gets enabled back after my laptop went to sleep.

If your laptop doesn't come with Win8 and you do upgrade installation to Win8, I'd recommend you to re-format and do clean install the Win8/Win8.1. Upgrade installation does tend to have problem, and I haven't experience issue-free with upgrade installation since WinXP to be honest. Mind you that you might lose some Lenovo stuff like OKR.

If you have done that and problem persist, I'd recommend you to update all drivers from Lenovo website to the latest version. Like what gregyong said, Win8 does eff up big time but I blame both Microsoft and OEMs as well for not providing proper drivers leading to underwhelmed experience; still, personally I dont think this is as bad as Vista. I've had worse problem, bigger performance hit on Vista... but I can agree in some department, Win8 does worse than Vista (WiFi drivers if you need an example)

if none of that works, well... time to go back to Win7 I guess...

I had this problem too on my y500 running win 8.1 x64 the time I update geforce drive 344.11. Adjusting brightness just did not brighten nor darken the screen it was at 100% all the time. Could not switch off wifi using hardware keys etc.

I solved this problem by uninstalling geforce driver then fully remove it using Driver Sweeper (Guru3D) in safe mode. Had to be extreme cause normal uninstall reboot then reinstall did not have any effect. But after that everything was back to normal and all function keys working as intended.

I think its an installation glitch which doesn't effect most users cause my other computer didn't encounter this issue. Googling other forums also nothing about this issue. So yeah give it a try it might just be the solution, failing which then you can always fall back to Lenovo SC.

yesterday, I brought lenovo ideapad s410 with windows 8 pro crack... after check today, I found my "fn, keyboard brightness, Bluetooth" is not function.

please help me... do I need to throw back to that seller...
one things... is it true, lenovo doesn't have any card warranty? just show serial number for warranty ...?
*
You have to go online and check your warranty status, yes on this point. Have you installed all your model's Lenovo drivers? If yes, then go read what I posted earlier about Geforce drivers. Might help solve your issue. If all else fail then sent for warranty la.
