this is my spare very old 17 yrs car
just noticed this morning, one of the tyres is slightly bulging.
can it still be used?
tyre is about 2 1/2 yrs with only 20K km travelled. tread still looks like new (Falken ZE326) only used for short distance.... 10-20km per day... max maybe 40km

Once a bulge develop, tht would be the weakpoint in the tyre sidewall and overtime it gets bigger and bigger until the steel jacket separates frm the sidewall and it goes kaboom
Unless u dont travel highspeed and use car mainly in town, its okay but still recomended to change.

Once a tire is bulging, it has to be changed. If you don;t want to spedn the money, exchange it with your spare.

You can try to find some used tires then to cut the cost. There are many selling in mudah.my.

the bulge is actually very small. Maybe 1/3 of the photo. only noticed it after applying tire polish.
The tire was the front left. Must have hit a pothole. But i have transferred the tire to the back left. Will monitor and see first since the car is used very short distances. Also have clean up my spare from the garden and will get it pumped first in case of any blowup

Falkens are prone to bulging with our Malaysian infamous potholes everywhere.

QUOTE(dtna7 @ May 2 2013, 09:33 AM) Falkens are prone to bulging with our Malaysian infamous potholes everywhere. yup. Falken are said to be very fragile. I don't know the quality now, but in early 2000, my friend drove non stop 6 hours using falken and it developed the bulge. He said the tyre was quite new. I do buy falken . but travel in city center only.

Wow, I'm surprised the rims are still in pretty good shape. Lucky you I used Falkens once & I didn't have a very good experience with them. Had to change them within a year - less than 30K KM probably. They were noisy & fragile. My Paradas on the other hand.... Ended up partially deaf though

Must change to avoid tyre burst. Anyway, looks like low profile tire can't stand pot holes.
