Try look into here http://www.altaitechnologies.com/

Telekom Malaysia is using these products for their long range "TM WiFi" wireless access points.

Call these people:

http://myivenue.com/

Ask for Chee Ming (the GM there). Tell him you were introduced by John Hoo from Avo Tech.

They sell a large range of Wifi solutions. Up to 3-4km IIRC.

Not sure about TPLink but easily achieved with either:

Mikrotik SXT Lite2
or
Ubiquiti nanostation m5

having the same issue also, i am paying the rm65 streamyx for 512kbs (slow like hell recently) for my mother in law house.

i was thinking to beam my house wifi which is 700meters away which is almost line of sight to their roof top (with 3 big old trees at the middle).

1) anyone know where can i buy Ubiquiti NSM5 NanoStation M5 in malaysia?
PS* I saw this http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/product/UBIQ...php?prod=379456
, but not the one i am finding

2) anyone experience long range wifi during heavy rain?

thanks

Try landasan.com.my for Mikrotik products. Office is in PJ.

asked landasan, they quote me SXTG5 for RM400 each without postage (RM20).
but their website show RM360 each hahhaa...

It was a great success with NSM5

great achievement, with LOS assisted
with that kind of range, hopefully no one tried to tap into your wifi

encryption + hidden SSID might help

Firetide wireless backhaul can do this easily. tested few hops more than 1KM, still get good bandwith
