Would like to ask all sifu here, how do u display ur tank collection? Any one here custom a cabinet for ur tank collection? Btw, here is part of my tank collection.
I just keep inside book shelf for now... plan to use the case that come with the subscription in future (now the book shelf almost full )
zemperor: Ya...it mix up all different brand inside. Dragon Armor, Hobby Master, Warmaster, Easy Model, FOV, CTC.......The Maus is plastic kit from Easy Model, originally it very light weight, i had done some touch up and add in some iron to make it more heavy and feel realistic.
thanks for the info plastic kit is that means u need to assemble and do painting yourself?
BTW, i google and found this, is it same as your maus?

Very nice display cabinet and lighting set up!!!! My dream cabinet for my collection!
This one not bad too.
if custom cabinet, better make it just big enough for the tanks just like the picture of nice lightning display cabinet else the space in front of the tanks will be quite wasted if the cabinet is big enough to stack some tanks unless put something small in front of it...
for my, at first i'm only put something small in front of the tanks but as collections getting more and more, space limited so the book shelf become messy
well, just share my own opinion hope everyone don't mind and sorry for off topic
zemperor: Ya. My Maus is from this brand. Easy Model. I mean it make by plastic but it need not require any assembly or self painting. Actually, Easy model sell very cheap in china, average RM30 per pc only. Last time i brought 10 one short to save shipping cost. Too bad is this brand didnt come with display case.
Thanks for the info average RM30 is very cheap... i don't think can find this price locally
im looking for 1/35 maus, but it already discontinue. no choice but to pick 1/72 scale. I saw easy model price is cheap compare to dragon. Anyone have easy model 1/72???

There's a new MMO tank game coming soon (Armored Warfare). Unlike World of Tanks, this one will have modern vehicles. The official website is taking applications for Beta test, if anyone's interested.
Here's a photo of one of my favourite diecast models, a Tamiya 1/48 Sherman IC Firefly.
I'm on the lookout for the Iraqi T-72 from CTC, but still nothing from the looks of it. =(
is it plastic kit? u spray the color or the color is original?

Zemperor: Haha...not yet reach thousand la brother, close to thousand only....too long never go visit them. One time visit i totally broken.....Jamesbond 9 issue, Tank 5 issue, Fighter aircraft 8 issue and Helicopter subscride 10 issue.......
How is ur Maus? Very light weight right? I open it up and put in some clay to add weight n make it more realistic.
Maus is very big and nice i got Force of Valor 1:72 M1A2 abrams and challenger 2 to compare, the Maus is bigger but lighter weight than the abrams or challenger 2
what is the clay that u put in the Maus? is the clay that can use to make shape? i remember play with this clay when i was a kid but not sure is that one or not...
wow. skycrane. that thing is HUGE. judging from issue one, both rotor can spin. curious about those double(not tandem) rotor like kamov... how will they spin? the real one will go opposite direction ... ehhh jusrt noticed... this is tank thread not helos
so the name for this helicopter is skycrane thanks a lot for the info (sorry for off topic)
*also thanks for the explanation of tank name, number... didn't know that jadgtiger is the biggest tank destroyer but maus is the heaviest tank, right? (or is it biggest?)

Here the comparison between them, those rotor blades will give some problem for those with limited space... But I don't think it even pass the blueprint stage. The other contender would be the E-100 which basically a different hull with the same Maus turret (for the early production atleast), only left incompleted hull after the war end.
3 helicopter (that is issue 1, right?) i'm also having space problem and i'm targeting chinook which is even bigger problem
it seems those tanks that bigger or heavier than maus is incomplete/only prototype...

Yeap, 3 from the first issue and with that RM 10 price, it a steal! but i don't like the camo so probably repaint 2 of them with the famous black scheme and another one would be the Malaysia VIP.

And Tiger I beat me to it on the weight but those heavy tanks in a grand scale or strategically a nightmare logistically as during WW2 those heavy tanks are using underpowered engine which make them very easy to break down in combat or even in transit, even the famous Tiger I broke down often and need to bring to workshop which is way behind the front line to get it running again. Also need to consider the terrain and road infrastructure since it will hinder their movement either because it too wide to fit on city roads or too heavy to get across a river by bridge.
I suggest watching this video.
I waiting for someone to do this

thanks for the info i'm also watch the video already (i'm a WoT player )
QUOTE(Tiger I @ Apr 2 2014, 11:41 PM)
If those megatanks were to be mass produced (consider that the cost is not counted in, which is unlikely), they would be more of a weapons of propagandas and to strike terror into the heart of the enemies.
Even the ones that made it into production, like Tiger I and Tiger II used engine similar to Panther, which makes the two heavy tanks seriously underpowered and plagued with mechanical failures, even more so on the Tiger II. Logistically, a single cost of Tiger I could be used to make around 4 StuG III IINM. Fuel guzzling, difficulties in traversing terrains due to weight, making a heavier tank would be a limiting factor in a battle.
But at least they inspire Tigerphobia when it was introduced in terms of firepower and protection they are good as well.
As for the scene from Girls un Panzer, we need Maus. And Hetzer. Oh CTC, please have Hetzer for our issues
Thanks for the info
QUOTE(Tiger I @ Apr 3 2014, 12:07 AM)
With constant bombardment and encrouchment from all sides, their resources is leaking day by day. The thing is, that way of thinking is still can be seen now in German automotive, produce a quality product as compared to quickly make plenty of cheap thing. Not saying that cheap is bad, just look at the abundance of M4 and T-34 as compared to even Panzer IV. But hey, at least their path leads to many breakthrough in designs such as the StG44, Me 262, V2 and the likes.
Not forgetting Karl, as promoted recently in WoT
As for Maus, there are alternative, but who wouldn't like to get their hands on a MYR 29.90 1/72 Maus? I know I would (I don't think the current size of the case would fit though)
I just got a 1/72 Maus I'm also think the Maus 1/72 can't fit in current CTC case (just judge by the look, not by measuring )

Sifu tank collections.... which issue the best tank model ? I have money constraints can only choose 1 - the biggest and nicest one .... thanks brothers Sifu for guidance..
this is a very hard choice actually favourite is personal and not everyone may share the same but if u ask for biggest, i think maybe the jadgtiger/tiger II is biggest in Combat Tank Collection
QUOTE(Lots of A Lots @ Apr 3 2014, 07:52 PM)
Also, the largest operational tank is the Char 2C, Maus is second.
thanks for the info... i'm always think of maus is biggest but it seems a lot more are bigger / much bigger than maus...
very much welcome, glad to be of help. Tanks of older days wouldn't stand a chance when fighting modern ones, as many of the advantages are with the MBTs today.
Firepower of MBT is far superior, with myriads of shells used by different tanks such as sabot rounds and depleted uranium, to say the least. The systems used today can acquire target accurately, aim much further and fire faster as compared to the older design. Loading would be faster due to better communication, systems and ergonomics. Rounds could be brought into battle in relative safety (Abrams have stowage outside the crew compartment with blow-off panels that direct the explosion in a relatively safe direction for example).
Protection would be a better ones as opposed to what tankers used to rely back in those days. Not only the armor thickness would count, the material itself would also play a role in making sure that the defense is up to par to at least, by theory, to safely protect the tank from harm. Chobham armor, ERA protection, spaced armor to reduce the effect of shaped charge, and many more examples of passive and active protections. The design of tank is also a vital one. Most MBT today have sloped armor (example is Merkava), as opposed to basic shaped design of many earlier tanks (Tiger I, for example). Sloped armor would increase the armor thickness and the chances of opponent's shell to ricochet.
Mobility is also in need of consideration. Some MBT design such as Leclerc and T-90 are quite fast as opposed to Challenger and Merkava, for example, but compared to the older ones, they would easily thrive (Hellcat is out of question because they are doctrined as tank destroyer ). Mobility doesn't only mean top speed, but how well does the tank would traverse in any terrain or condition. A Leopard 2 can easily circle itself in place as opposed to Tiger I that would took around a minute to complete a full circle of its turret.
Given the example, I don't think a Tiger could penetrate a T-72, except in prepared condition such as from the flanks. In return, T-72 could easily took out Tiger in ranges even before it could retaliate.
But then again, I could be wrong, do correct me though.
had the chance recently to see easy model up close i don't really fancy them as long as other makers do make that particular tank but damn maus is really intimidating even in 1/72 scale
and with regards to b1, at least ctc has that fancy love insignia
the Maus is really nice especially the 1:72 scale, same with CTC

Anyone want to share out the bulk purchase for the EasyModel since it cost less with 1kg postage. I am looking at the AS-90, BTR-80 and M113 South Vietnamese unit. Hopefull CTC will have the BTR-80 as it diecast metal rather then plastic.
