wah, a review, too soon for me actually, but a quick one may be possible, i hardly use the RT btw. Plan to trash it out in the coming weeks for a full review.

Battery Life - 8 hours
lighter than Pro
as its arm architecture, RT will NEVER give you a blue screen
Connected standby- even when machine is on stanby, you still get latest updates / news feeds/mails upon wakinf it up
with 8.1 can join domain
free lync / outlook / word / excel / powerpoint /one note (savings of at least 600 bucks here)


bads
needs the original converter for vga - oem ones doesnt work
may be slower for multi tasking
unable to use x86 apps / relies on store apps

Surface PRO

goods
a complete replacement for laptop - its my work machine now discarded my lappy (lenovo X220T)
lovely screen resolution
able to use oem mini dp to vga converter to extend screen
runs all program from you usual desktops / lappies plus all in store

bads
Max 4 hours battery life
Heats up pretty fast
Gotta pay for ms office
Heavier
Connectivity off when hibernating/sleeping to preserve battery. means apps dont get updated

Make sure you haver a decent connection and plugged in to power source

Both my RT and Pro is still runing 8. but i installed in my workstation - took me almost whole night , at one point it rolled back to win 8 and i had to do the whole process again.
Anyways the word is, 8.1 RTM will be out really soon

you're right, ive tested with micro hdmi to hdmi with RT . No problem, but the problem is when you want to connect to a vga e.g external monitors & projectors .

thats what i believe after testing with many projectors, most monitors with vga can use the normal oem to extend for RT

1. cables for pro can get from Lowyat / Pudu / ebay (this is Mini DP to VGA) (20-30 bucks)

2. i think you misunderstood, we have no problem with micro hdmi to hdmi . the problem is micro hdmi to vga and specifically extending via projector

most of the time just by the surface itself, hardly extend. Usually extend for prezzo or if watching movie

i have one RT 64gb and one pro 128gb

in this came make sure you get a proper hub, if u get those 10 bucks ones, they will downstream the speed.
for me im using targus 4 port usb hub - 1 x mouse transreciever 2x usb sync for phone 1 x headset

this is a good bundle yo!

personally im using the touch mouse for Pro and wedge for RT.
i dont feel there is a need for external kboard. The touch is good enought for me

Been using for about a month now, i have nothing to complain about touch kboard. But then again, it's individual user preference

Also a I'm really anticipating the keyboard with battery pack, once that's available, I plan to let go my touch keyboard.

It depends on what else you plan to use it for. If you're a candy crush / clash of the titan person , then this is not the one. But there are good apps at the moment in the store and more awesome apps are in the baking tray. But if you are looking at a mini PC like capable device with productivity capabilities the RT marks the spot.

But based on your post which on reading device, then RT fits your bill, bugger screen with better resolution.

Oh ya, i was having come problem to play mkv files, on RT, any recommendations on apps? The ones I downloaded did not read the file, instead it tried to convert the file. And since I was streaming the movie from a home group and the file was 4gb, i did not tried to do so.

thats purely for education cust's only - students nd campus members.
it is a std practice for all edu organisartions to pay a very minimal amount for softwares , and at times h/ware too.

The thread that was opened was by a a person who has a lobang to procure the surface via edu organisation. Technically its not wrong but practically its not right
