Actually chambie pay in KL if you go to the bigger firms is in the range of RM 2,500 - 3,000 now. Which is good for the industry But of course there are still some which are paying below RM 2000. Theres a site called office parrots you can check for salary rates in law firms. Doesn't have all chambie rates but has for most of the big firms.
