Technical Xbox 360 taking quite a long time to start

Hi everyone, i recently bought a xbox360(the new one) after a few weeks using, the console takes quite a long time to start up(around 15 mins). The console has been modded, is it because of improper modding or is because of the HDD simce i recently changed it (DIY style, using the old xbox's hdd and putting it in a case for te new xbox 360 slim) much help needed thanks
