QUOTE(Lord_darkslide @ Sep 15 2013, 12:36 AM) 1. you need a gpu (let say gtx770m) that has a dell/alienware vbios in it. 2. for gtx660m to gtx770m i can confirm that the heatsink is compatible. and the x bracket too.. 3. after installing, you need a driver with a slight/easy modification with .inf file. 4. then drool while gaming your hearts out... ehhehehe wow.. tq for the very useful info.. so if i get hd7970 maybe need to change the heatsink la? the hd7970 card seems good enough for me.. how about the power adapter? i heard it must be change aso.. any experience on this issue?

QUOTE(Lord_darkslide @ Sep 15 2013, 12:49 AM) owh yeah... sorry forgot to add.. my 180w adapter cant support my ram (1866 32gb) and gpu upgrade..need to change to 240w... if your came with 240w adapter.. then ok already i guess mine is same as u... 180w only.. later will upgrade which u think is most important for me now? 1. Ram (current 8gb 1600hz) 2. SSD (current normal hdd 1tb) 3. GPU (gtx660) and the budget are limited now.. around 1k only.. haha thanks for advice This post has been edited by zat_90s: Sep 15 2013, 12:55 AM

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Sep 15 2013, 05:48 PM) Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB - RM489 <- best performance but price Plextor M5Pro 128GB - RM444 <- best overall Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB - RM379 <- best for value but lack of warranty life all are sandforce driven and favourited by me. never tried samsung SSD's but i heard they are the best and reliable out there. once i tried, they are in my favourite list. nice bro.. thanks will do some research and view review on these ssd b4 buy.. yup i heard samsung ssd are also good.. will take a look also.. anyway do you know about msata 32gb that included on m17r4? can we install windows in it?

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 15 2013, 07:44 PM) it's the new 17.. all sata ports are now at sata 3 speeds (even if odd ports are of sata 3) msata ssd's are slower than 2.5" ssd's because of the compact size (limited space to put more good stuff on it to make it run as fast) still, they are much faster than hdd of course I suggest Plextor m5pro xtreme. Samsung 840 pro is one of the best. however it's pricey. in fact, any recent ssd's are fine. the bests will be pricey (for normal usage, it's not worth it) well the msata 32gb might be too small. nowadays the minimum is 128gb. however the sweet spot is actually 256gb. hmm.. i want use ssd to store my system and games only.. have extrs 1tb for movies etc.. i still dont understand the use of the givem msata.. can anyone explain to me? coz i find it as unallocated space on drive manager...

QUOTE(Jyi @ Sep 15 2013, 10:00 PM) Hi, I have an Alienware 14. Between the Vindicator 14 and 17 backpacks, which would be more suitable for carrying the laptop, its powerbrick, a mouse, an ipad, a few files/folders and a notebook? Thanks for any feedback. i just get vindicator 17 last friday.. the size is soo big.. the beg itself i think more than 1kg.. haha anyway i think its more than enough for my m17x+ipad n stuff.. if u dont mind carry larger and heavier backpack, then take 17" backpack.. if want to fit2.. i think 14" will do..

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 15 2013, 09:23 PM) yeah well you can get a 128gb first. the 32gb msata is for caching, thus it makes the system load faster than conventional hdd's. ooo.. i see.. so the msata 32gb caching just work itself or we need to do some configuration to make it works? sorry if the question sound silly bro..

QUOTE(xandman @ Sep 16 2013, 07:01 AM) i think the msata is default to caching mode. u only need to change the settings if u need it to be a normal disk. can u see the msata in ur 'my computer'? if not most probably it's already in caching mode. i dont thik so.. because it says the msata is still unlocated space.. done with steps given and i think its done now.. maybe because i change to win7 from original given win8 i think.. thats why the msata need to be reconfigured..
