Hi, got a problem here with AW M14x. Recently I bought a SSD and a HDD caddy bay. I removed the optical disk, replacing it with the HDD caddy bay. Then I transfer the HDD into the caddy bay, and I install the SSD into the main HDD slot. The problem that occur is boot time is very long (>1min) and sometimes will stuck at windows boot logo. Note: Both SSD and HDD got no chkdsk error, no disk health error

QUOTE(MikeX @ Jun 14 2013, 03:03 PM) Looks like the caddy bay HDD is dragging the SSD boot time. Normally with 2 hard disks where one HDD is faster than another, it will have such delay problem. Thanks for the reply. But when I test it with my asus laptop, it boot very fast (<10sec.)

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 14 2013, 03:43 PM) IINM, the caddy bay has slower transfer rate than 6gb/s SATA ones. normally, caddy drives can run max 3gb/s only. But the boot time should not be affected rite? Asus = <10sec. AW = If boot, >1min. Sometimes will stuck at windows logo (^both laptop have SSD and HDD; HDD installed inside the caddy bay)

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Jun 14 2013, 04:19 PM) faisal_smks03What about if you remove the HDD caddy? Test with SSD alone. and the Boot Order in BIOS, already set to SSD ? I got no problem when test with SSD alone. The problem starts when I replace the optical disk with the HDD caddy. Is it possible the boot order changed when I install the HDD?

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Jun 14 2013, 04:34 PM) Well, it could be from the beginning the first order is ODD. Thats why check it first. Already test this, I don't think this is the problem. Maybe jumper related problem then http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-...tml#post8668981looks like related to the jumper for the HDD. try this guide, http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-...tml#post8599260This guide is a lil bit hard to understand. I guess better sticking with single HDD for nowThanks for the replies This post has been edited by faisal_smks03: Jun 14 2013, 10:31 PM
