Did you guys upgrade to the latest Windows 8.1? Mine comes pre-loaded with Windows 8 SL. So I might just get the standard Windows 8.1 rather than Windows 8.1 Pro, right?

Any big difference between Windows 8.1 SL and Windows 8.1 Pro rather than remote desktop features? @horns

Looks like I'm torn between updating my Nvidia drivers or not after hearing the issue. Plus, I have no idea why the Nvidia default driver on my Alienware couldn't contact server for update at least for a few hours now.

Anyone with Alienware 14 can confirm with me please?
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro, and under device manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers > Intel ® Display Audio, it is being checked with a warning "!". I clicked on it, and it displayed: " This device cannot start, (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE " Tried installing a new driver update, and it says I have the latest one installed. Any idea how to work around this problem? |

QUOTE(whyteaz @ Nov 11 2013, 09:13 AM) Do you know how do I do it? Went to Intel's Page and they couldn't detect what hardware I have and which ones needed the upgrade.Probably you could inform me what's the firmware version for the latest update so I could look it up? I can't agree more with you Ah Wai. My system on 8.1 pro is screwed. Most drivers are not updated, so I can't basically use many features. For instance, I don't know why audio is not being played over my Apple LED 27", just the laptop. Checked sound management, all are being detected and enabled. Further more, anyone with Alienware 14 can double check with me? Do you have under sound, audio and game controllers, a driver called " Intel ® Display Audio? If so, is there a halt (!) icon with it? Mine seems to do so. Tried to upgrade the driver, but then it turned to High Definition Audio instead. I'm seriously weirded out :/

I could be wrong. But Alienware seems to be on the last train when it comes to upgrading their drivers towards the latest preferred Windows OS. 8.1 has been out for a while now, they should at least update their drivers to the latest version. Or I could be just ignorant, not knowing where to look for them. Most drivers from Dell.com are age old.
