Guys. A bit of a problem here.

I updated to Windows 8.1, and now my GPU is not even recognized on the device manager. What's up? D:

M17x R4 (GTX660m)

EDIT: Even BIOS doesn't recognize the graphics card. FN+F7 doesn't do anything.

uh? upgrading w8.1 should be seamless (well i did a clean install instead of upgrade).

have you tried to reinstall (clean install) the geforce and intel drivers?
yes there is a big difference between the 2 cards. that's why i think it's better for you to get 780m instead. putochip can help if you wanted it.

i am not sure of the market price of a 675m sorry.

edit: mansooriqbal gave a better option to get a new 780m card i guess lol! you should also get the heatsink spreader and new thermal pads, too.

Did the clean install of the drivers. Now I've detected the gpu and everything.

But whenever I try to play a game, it BSOD after 3-4 mins of playing. It fails under stress.

Not sure what it means. hmm.gif

did you use the stock driver from dell or the one from geforce.com? i am using the one from geforce.com. no problem here.

Using the one from geforce.com
Major problem here. Fails under stress. Hmm....should I call Dell?

Oh and also it seems that at every start up, it says that the adapter used is not enough for the performance.

180W is the one I'm using, but says that it requires the 240W

Yeah. I read that the stock adapter should be enough for the 660m, but somehow it says its not. I guess I'll try and see if the 240 adapter would solve it, and I'll provide an update if there were any changes. Thanks.

it's weird that the adapter is not good for your laptop after reading your specs in the signature. it's better you ask dell to see look because i think it might be other hardware issues involved.

What other hardware issues could it be? hmm.gif
I'll give them a call tomorrow. Didn't get the chance to call them today XD

Lol!

Man.. I dont know.. Probably reinstalling audio driver will help. I have never seen such weird errors before (mine or my friends')

I suggest you ask dell to take a closer look at it.

haha. Wtfisthisshit. Never thought it'd be this problematic for a premium laptop.

It seems this link is a pretty good way to try and fix if anyone has problems with 8.1

http://ftp.dell.com/published/Pages/index....ienware_laptops

Solved mine. Should I flash BIOS A13?
Released on 9th October 2013.
