Anyone thinks the new AW lineups looked much thicker and basin-like than before?

QUOTE(lace @ Jun 11 2013, 11:22 PM) Thanks for sharing, specs seemed pretty good for the AW 14 Can't say much for the AW 17 though... the hybrid HDD configuration seemed a bit too weak for the price (even if its the base model) |

QUOTE(lace @ Jun 12 2013, 01:33 AM) Yeah, we can change the hDD ourselves no problems there But as mentioned in the Alienware FB page, its best to wait for awhile when getting newly released notebooks since the specs and customizations are not that matured yet in Dell Malaysia. Last time when I bought my M14x R1, there was no laser nameplate for the many 1st buyers, which is downright ridiculous, who wouldn't want one when its included in the price |

QUOTE(Neoborn @ Jun 12 2013, 06:03 AM) it kinda look fatter than the mx. i like the glowing line alienfx though. looked better if the side light curve upward abit.. dont u think? I prefer the older design based on what I've seen so far... and I will miss the glowing grill that's for sure, it was one of the most iconic design of the now ex-AW lineups n the glowing grill is gone.. |

QUOTE(rc2x @ Jun 12 2013, 02:59 PM) How do you spell disappointment? Start with A. Thanks for sharing the review The Verge Alienware 14 Review http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/11/4417968/...nware-14-review I just died when this guy mention mech structure with full alu back. Not really sure whether potential buyers will be interested in thicker and bulkier designs, especially when everyone else is going slimmer and lighter Update: Looks like the new AW 14 still has only one fan, but at least there are a whole lot more vents at the bottom This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Jun 12 2013, 05:52 PM |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jun 12 2013, 05:50 PM) Yeah, those slot-load optical drives have been around since the R1 haha Many people complaint cannot eject CDs, and slot-load optical drives also make installing Jack Sparrow programs/games more challenging |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jun 12 2013, 06:02 PM) Few questions will be most likely asked for the new alienware models. 1. I guess custom plates can surely be obtained as long as one is willing to pay haha 1. Custom Orders Plate possible with the screw slots? Bear in mind, just order the custom plate. 2. Cleaning instruction? Call technician for maintenance?? 3. Stucked cd? Call technician i suppose( need to fully diassemble? what happens when something snaps or scratched the body?). 4. Battery suddenly DOA after 2 weeks or longer of used? Call technician for battery replacement? 5. Card stucked? Call technician? and there's more actually. Lazy to list out. I suppose based on the new design, Dell Might be milking more $$$ charges for their service. 2. Have to wait for comprehensive teardowns of the AW 14 and 17 to comment. But so far I'm not liking what I see on the AW 14 3. As for the rest, just call tech support lo since its under warranty |

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Jun 13 2013, 03:51 PM) So far only seeing pics of the event via social media for the unveiling from a friend of mine whos at the event at Gardens. Wonder if they'll have highest specs than the GTX 770M currently on offer for the M17. Too early to tell, we should be able to get some GTX780M upgrade options in Dell Malaysia later kua A thought crossed my mind that if they new lineup here isn't a major improvement other than exterior looks and aesthetics, I'd rather upgrade my current proc and GPU myself. |

QUOTE(MikeX @ Jun 13 2013, 09:32 PM) Actually is there very much different between the GTX770 vs GTX780? From web, the two performs almost closely to each others. Eh? I thought the GTX780M is much, much better? http://www.notebookcheck.net/In-Review-Nvi...5M.93277.0.html |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 14 2013, 09:43 AM) posted 9 hours ago. you are earlier than me. My God does it look ugly from the side actually, i prefer the previous grill design over than the new 1 too. or if alienware could make mixed ones, remain the old grill design, add surround lightning and maintain the alien power button, then it will be better. Too thick liao |

QUOTE(xandman @ Jun 16 2013, 07:46 PM) Thanks man! The newer systems are just released, give it some time for customization options to come yo i sure hope they are still making it user upgradeable. Another question arises.... I did a quick call to Dell asking them about the custom nameplates.... It seems that on the new system.... There are not offered... is it true? Bcoz one of the reason AW is cool is bcoz of the nameplate! Hope someone can help.... And yes there will definitely be customizable nameplates, again give Dell time |
