What do you mean by the Broadcom AC is having trouble with most wireless router? Cause my incoming AW17 is equipped with the Broadcom card.

And is it compatible with the AC66u? Cause that's what I am using now.

Got a text from Dell. AW17 arriving on Monday. That was fast.

If I were to reformat my Alienware AW17, as it is arriving with the 750GB HDD and I will be installing my SSD as a C drive.
Would I be able to restore the Alienware to how it was when the system arrives? For example the Alienware wallpapers and themes and stuff like that? Can all this be found in the Alienware resource CD?

My other question would be, I am going to be upgrading my graphics card from GTX770m to a GTX780m bought from upgradeyourlaptop on eBay. Does anyone know whether for the AW17 the 780m would be plug and play or it has to be flashed with a VBIOS or whatever?
Upgrade your laptop did send me a VBIOS for the card. But that was because I was initially planning to put the card inside my old M17x R4 which was using the 6xx series GPU's.
so now I am wondering if the AW17 would be fine with just plug and play and need no modifications as it is already running on the 7xx series cards.

Yeapp, But I already have the GTX780m on hand with me; along with these babies that are going in to the AW17 (Crucial 960GB SSD x2, Transcend 512GB SSD, Crucial Balistix Sports 1866 1.35V RAM, ODD Caddy for 750GB 7200 RPM HDD) When I have all this in then I will run some benchmarks



And I am typing on the AW17 keyboard now and its so much nicer than the M17x R4 and R3. heh.

Not to mention I am having Illegear perform the installation for me and they charge for their services too. Think their bill would be northwards of Rm350 including screen calibration.
And also as you can see in the picture that I also bought Crosair Vengeance RAM's by mistake which I later found out that are not compatible and hence have to sell it off. And selling it at a very good price too so I lose quite alot there also

The 512GB SSD will be the C drive.
The 960GBx2 will be set in RAID0 configuration and they will be used for keeping my lossless audio files in WAV format. As you can see in my signature, my main passion and hobby is audio. I have been a long time audiophile. The SSD's would be actually utilised for storage and playback of the lossless audio files that I have extracted from a CD. Also in my signature I list the player and the software that I use (JPLAY & jRIVER)

Here is a thread from an audiophile forum regarding the benefits in terms of sound when an SSD is used compared to a HDD.

I will be removing the MSATA and will be placing the 750GB HDD in its place, I need a HDD too as the SSD's have their Read/Write lifespan. So I can use the HDD for more vigorous everyday use.

And the 64GB MSATA will be up for sale, as well as the BluRay drive. So if anyone is interested...........

I don't know though cause I have not seen the inside.
But the trusted boys over at Illegear told me that Alienware actually has 4HDD Slots including the caddy from the ODD. the MSATA slot unlike the previous AW's were designed to fit HDD's.
