QUOTE(Aura @ Sep 15 2013, 05:33 PM) Thank you thank you bros!!! it's the new 17.. all sata ports are now at sata 3 speeds (even if odd ports are of sata 3)Seriously, mSATA is no slower than the normal SATA SSD. It has the same speed since our AW 17s has a mSATA 3 there. I don't understand why ppl says it's slower than the normal one. msata ssd's are slower than 2.5" ssd's because of the compact size (limited space to put more good stuff on it to make it run as fast) still, they are much faster than hdd of course QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Sep 15 2013, 05:48 PM) Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB - RM489 <- best performance but price Plextor M5Pro 128GB - RM444 <- best overall Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB - RM379 <- best for value but lack of warranty life all are sandforce driven and favourited by me. never tried samsung SSD's but i heard they are the best and reliable out there. once i tried, they are in my favourite list. QUOTE(zat_90s @ Sep 15 2013, 06:24 PM) nice bro.. thanks I suggest Plextor m5pro xtreme. Samsung 840 pro is one of the best. however it's pricey. in fact, any recent ssd's are fine. the bests will be pricey (for normal usage, it's not worth it)will do some research and view review on these ssd b4 buy.. yup i heard samsung ssd are also good.. will take a look also.. anyway do you know about msata 32gb that included on m17r4? can we install windows in it? well the msata 32gb might be too small. nowadays the minimum is 128gb. however the sweet spot is actually 256gb. |

QUOTE(zat_90s @ Sep 15 2013, 08:58 PM) hmm.. i want use ssd to store my system and games only.. have extrs 1tb for movies etc.. yeah well you can get a 128gb first.i still dont understand the use of the givem msata.. can anyone explain to me? coz i find it as unallocated space on drive manager... the 32gb msata is for caching, thus it makes the system load faster than conventional hdd's. |

QUOTE(xandman @ Sep 15 2013, 11:22 PM) get the consumer grade ssd's and you will be fine. although it's slower compared to enthusiast grade, it's still fast. samsung 840 pro and plextor m5pro xtreme are enthusiast grade. they charge a premium on a slightly noticeable speed differences. to many, i think it's pointless also. QUOTE(zat_90s @ Sep 15 2013, 11:28 PM) i just get vindicator 17 last friday.. hm.. i don't know, to me the more space the better haha!the size is soo big.. the beg itself i think more than 1kg.. haha anyway i think its more than enough for my m17x+ipad n stuff.. if u dont mind carry larger and heavier backpack, then take 17" backpack.. if want to fit2.. i think 14" will do.. |

QUOTE(zat_90s @ Sep 15 2013, 11:39 PM) ooo.. i see.. you need to configure it to work:so the msata 32gb caching just work itself or we need to do some configuration to make it works? sorry if the question sound silly bro.. http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshootin...ew?docid=564442 |

QUOTE(Aura @ Sep 16 2013, 02:26 AM) QUOTE(xandman @ Sep 16 2013, 06:59 AM) i was just pointing out. oh ok sorry I was supposed to quote the other post :/i myself am on the m5pro. but tbh, between the enthusiast grade and consumer grade, for app loading the difference is a mere second or 2. thats about it. so for normal ppl, just get the cheaper ones. |

QUOTE(Lord_darkslide @ Sep 16 2013, 09:48 PM) sadly mine no.. uh? don't say like that :/ it's not about low or high specs. the interceptor should be placed in the container. have you double checked it? if it's not there, I think you should ask dell to send you one.empty caddy case yes... interposer no.. maybe because mine is the lowest of the low m17xr4 spec.. hehehe oh.. mansooriqbal has one for sales lol! damn.. you're fast! |

if you wanna put in an hdd caddy for a 17", there are 2 that i have tried and both work well:
1. silverstone ts09 (http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=387); 2. hdd caddy 12.7mm that can be found at garage sales. i like the first one more. make sure it's sata-to-sata (not any other combinations) for recent hdd's / ssd's. |

QUOTE(Aura @ Sep 19 2013, 10:22 AM) Can. Why not? Just remember to disable Intel RST first before modifying any settings. hehe it's true you can run in raid mode there is no apparent issue about that. i just like to run things with the proper mode.I didn't run in AHCI. Still on RAID. LOL! Just lazy to change the settings. QUOTE(dannygeni @ Sep 19 2013, 10:26 AM) yes you need to do that first. i previously assumed that you're going for a fresh install |

QUOTE(twotrickpony @ Sep 24 2013, 12:44 AM) hi guys... anyone here knows where i can get a keyboard replacement for m14x r2? too much dota can kill your num keys... call dell tech support and ask for replacement? (if it's still under warranty)if you must get it from elsewhere, you can try contact aw sellers here. maybe they could help. also you can look around ebay, amazon, etc. i just typed 'alienware m14x r2 keyboard' at ebay and there were many matching results. |

QUOTE(mansooriqbal @ Sep 24 2013, 09:48 PM) I suggest you order ur keyboard from taobao.com. yeah taobao is a good place to look for parts too. just be careful and read all the specs and ask the seller to confirm before getting anything. sometimes they sell things that are different from the pictures.I lot of agents here. Get best price. I suggest taobao.com as shipping from China is cheap and fast too And then when u get ur item. DIY. Replacing a keyboard is not hard at all. You can google a lot of M14x R2 teardown videos or photos. Good luck |
