What I did was, for Google Chrome and Steam, I right click on the specific application icon at the desktop, go to Properties, then Compatibility tab, then lastly enable the option for "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

Then Chrome and Steam went back to normal resolution. No need to use Chrome for Windows 8 anymore.

What have you tried? Are you following the whole procedure including reinstalling windows? which version of RST are you using? which package: full or driver only?

You said its a self installed unit, which part is self installed? The msata ssd? the hdd? RST app and driver? I know that msata ssd is visible if its not in caching mode (like mine)

What did the tel support tell you? Why dont you just ask dell tech to pay your laptop a visit? Sorry have to ask so many questions; i have no clue where to start based on your descriptions, so i think it might help if you tell us more.

At the end of the article, it said that the ssd is not visible when you turn caching on. I suspect that you can disable it by reverting the process. (Meaning to say, disable the caching mode using RST app, uninstall RST, reboot and install the new RST app and driver, reenabling caching mode)

The cache drive should not be seen thru my computer. Only visible to the RST software. That way it should work.

What do u mean by can't install RST? Any error messages? Care to share? The problem that u stated is too vague. Need something more solid and more info.

to me, alienware.

actually the outcomes of this comparison depends on user requirements and personal preference. i like asus g-series. however the latest models are not that appealing to me :/

if you only compared price, stock specs, and cooling functions, they are almost the same (g-series is relatively cheaper; aw runs faster because of the native ssd caching). however, when you expand the scope of comparison beyond that, taking into accounts things like possibilities for future upgrades and quality of warranty service, you will see that aw wins every time.

about stock specs, i found aw's 3d screen and speakers are better.

I can't agree more with you Ah Wai. My system on 8.1 pro is screwed. Most drivers are not updated, so I can't basically use many features. For instance, I don't know why audio is not being played over my Apple LED 27", just the laptop. Checked sound management, all are being detected and enabled. Further more, anyone with Alienware 14 can double check with me? Do you have under sound, audio and game controllers, a driver called " Intel ® Display Audio? If so, is there a halt (!) icon with it? Mine seems to do so. Tried to upgrade the driver, but then it turned to High Definition Audio instead. I'm seriously weirded out :/

i've called dell tech support, and they told me that do not update to 8.1 at the moment as there are a lot of users had already filed complain to them. and what we can do is restored back.... but now seem like restoring back to factory default is not an option for me anymore, all the recovery option that they given to me not working at all =\

for stock specs, they're almost the same, except for quality of certain components (screens, speakers, wifi, etc.). you should find demo units of these laptops at lyp and try compare them.

3d screen is 120Hz. for common usage you don't need glasses. to run 3d games/watch 3d movies, you need it.

durability.. which part?
