Hi guys, I'm Alienware 14 owner, Do i really need upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 single language ?

Well, my AW 17 works fine with my 7.1 setup. No problems whatsoever. Urs is 2.1 or 5.1? What I noticed that the 3 ports are configured like this, 1 for front left/right, 1 for center and subwoofer and 1 for surround speakers. So what I assumed is that ur speaker has the green jack only and it is plugged into the front left/right port without subwoofer cable. The software only allows u to do either stereo or surround setup and there's no option for 2.1. Have u tried googling about the workaround or is there actually one?

Try selecting 5.1 then disable the surround speakers and c whether it works or not.

Ok, I hope it helps. It's actually not in Alienware audio software. It is in Windows Sound. Look for Playback devices and setup ur audio setup there.

HAHAHA!!! No la... Don't say like that. Ur laptop is fine. It's just Alienware's configuration that's the problem.

Have u tried the Dolby software? Maybe that can help. I haven't got time to play with that yet.

EDIT: I've tried the Dolby software and it doesn't help. Try plugging into the jack that indicates center/subwoofer. I think that should do the trick. I don't know whether the sound will be funny or not since I don't have a PC speaker to test.

Then maybe u should contact Dell support for this. I don't have a clue already.

Well, have u tried ur headphones? Got sound? If got sound, then maybe it is a software problem. Can try reinstalling the drivers for it. Also, I remember that AW 14 has a built-in subwoofer. Does the laptop speakers work as 2.1?

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro, and under device manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers > Intel ® Display Audio, it is being checked with a warning "!". I clicked on it, and it displayed:

" This device cannot start, (Code 10)

STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE "

Tried installing a new driver update, and it says I have the latest one installed. Any idea how to work around this problem?
