SS2 to get new morning market complex and food court facelift.

The Star 28/1/2014
PETALING Jaya’s SS2 business district is due to get a make-over with a new food court and a morning market complex being built.

This was revealed during the official launch of the new roof for the Jalan SS2/60 basketball court, which was upgraded by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) late last year.

Former MBPJ councillor for SS2, Tony Cheong, said there were other projects in the pipeline for the SS2 business district.

“In the MBPJ budget approved last year, funds were allocated to build a proper morning market complex,” he said.

This development will see the famous SS2 night food court being integrated with the morning market, as well as rooftop parking facilities and integrated waste collection.

In the last budget meeting before the councillors’ terms lapsed, Cheong said the allocation for the morning market complex was around RM5mil.

The row of hawker stalls across the Sea Park police station will be rebuilt at an estimated cost of RM300,000.

An additional toilet will be built at the intersection of Jalan SS2/61 and Jalan SS2/60, equipped with a diaper-changing room for mothers with infants.

“The council, I was told, will also ensure free state-provided WiFi service, similar to coverage at the SS2 night food court.” said Cheong.

Damansara Utama assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin, who was also present at the launch, said the upgrading of the basketball court was the first of several such improvements in the SS2 area.

Finally something to be done to that dirty place!!! Can't believe ppl still eat there, next to a pile of rubbish building up everyday.

In fact, i was surprised to see, a food stall ercted next to the rubbish bin during pasar malam, every monday... Yikes!!

No doubt the food is cheap, the place stinks and smells terribly too.. Very unhygienic.

Nothing special, definitely not worth queueing for. If you wanna see how a crowded crab restaurant should look like then try Fatty crab smile.gif

opening business not for long term. those business cant last for long due to high rental. even if own shop, it can rent out with better price, hassle free rather than opening business

crab factory price is fantastic high. more expensive than eating abalone. expect daily people to eat crab sure pokai. place is so cramp and stuffy. not comfortable at all. turnover of staff will be high, dont expect those youngster to work there for life, no future and how much it can pay their salary.

open business which everyday people can afford to eat or spend.

those tenant renting in and out, the property agent is so happy earning commision. better if the tenant move in and out. who care about their business anyway. plenty of $$ to spend.

However, under Section 78 of the Local Government Act 1978, the owner of an overcrowded premises shall be guilty of an offence with a fine not exceeding RM2,000 or a jail term not more than six months or both, upon conviction.

Overcrowding for commercial purposes, such as using dwelling units as hostels, is an infringement of the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 and The National Land Code.

Under the Act, the owner would be liable to a fine of RM500,000, jail, or forfeiture of land, as the real intent was to use the premises as a commercial business of providing accommodation.

Fancy having a nice durian party without being rip-off by by durian stalls (Donalds ,SS2Durian etc)? Here is an alternative for you to explore and compare how much they overcharged us.
