Date: 11/6/2013 - 12/6/2013
Venue: Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm
OVERVIEW
This course will give a fresh and practical input in the way naval architects and engineers can use weld improvement methods to safeguard the structural integrity and extend the fatigue life of offshore installations without the use of hot-work.
By implementing the three pillar of the life extension concept, participants will see how Fatigue Assessment, Inspection and Weld Improvement Methods can be combined to enable new possibilities in life extension projects.
Participants will be shown five different life extension projects where weld improvement methods were used to successfully extend the fatigue life of offshore installations.
The course participants will gain understanding in the benefit and drawbacks of the following weld improvement methods; Ultrasonic Peening, Hammer Peening, Burr Grinding and TIG Dressing. Of these methods the most focus will be put on Ultrasonic Peening.
