You are questioning about the company who decided to throw out free region encoding when the Wii came out.

And implemented region locking for their handheld console when they've never done that ever.

I can assure you it's not a Business Decision. Instead, it's a nut case's.

In a way, I know what you mean. But on a more technical standpoint, maybe, and just maybe, playing a Mario game on a Wii U Pro Controller just doesn't cut it.

of course, I haven't checked if the Wii NSMB supports the older Classic Controller instead. It might be. And again, it'll just go back to a nut case's decision.

Playing Mario with a controller that looks like an xbox 360's may not just cut it for Nintendo. If you think of it that way, then you can understand where these old timers are coming from.
