Hi, I have my Facebook account temporarily locked for 24 hours, twice in a row. The Facebook message says:

"Your account has been temporarily locked because we have detected malicious software on your computer. Malware is malicious software that tries to access your personal information, slows your connection, and could cause other problems when you use Facebook. Your computer can become infected with malware when you click or share spammy links."

Does anyone here have this problem before? I cleaned my computers so many times but just now, when I tried to link Free Malaysia Today to Facebook, I got locked out again!

What antivirus you are having?
Is it up-to-date?

You can also download Malwarebytes to scan your system :-

My home desktop computer... I check the internet and they recommended downloading Microsoft Security Essentials. With it, I found 2 more adwares, after I used several other softwares to clean my computer.

Yes, I heard of that too.... your comments about MSE, I mean. I was using Free AVG and Free Avast but found them not very effective to combat malware and adware. I then chose Ad-aware which claims to be also an anti-virus software but ended up even worse than before. Because I didn't know what to go for after that, I finally decided to download MSE and so far so good. It discovered 2 Ad-ware that no free software has detected and I have like 4-5 malware removal software at the same time.

KIS... never heard of it and never heard of it being recommended either by all the tech blogs. If MSE doesn't work, I may try Free KIS as a resort.

Thanks, Amazinggrace... I just found AdwCleaner and it found so many things that I never knew were still there, after using Comodo, Housecall Trend Micro, and Microsoft Security Essentials. Let's see how it goes. Have you ever tried using Microsoft Security Essentials? I hear many people saying it is no good. What I worry about free anti-virus software is that you have to update the database manually. That's my concern.

MSE/Defender + Malwarebytes is one of the popular free combo out there, coupled with chrome or firefox with adblock plus, you should encounter the least problems with minimal disruption

That's bullshit and FUD only. MSE is the best non-paid antivirus out there, from Microsoft themselves. The only issue is that there's no real-time scanning. I use Bitdefender IS 2012 and MSE (well I used to, until I realized that 2 antiviruses in one computer = failcake) and their detection rates are pretty similar. BD2012 was rated the best antivirus of 2012. That should tell you how good MSE is in comparison. KIS 2012 was ranked something like 3rd behind MSE and something else.

Who offers the best antivirus protection? Well, it’s not an easy question to answer, but independent testing labs AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives have released their Dec-2012 results and reports.

In AV-TEST, http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/...-7/novdec-2012/

Protection: BIS 3rd, MSE Last
Repair-ability: BIS 2nd, MSE 4th from last
Usability: MSE 3rd, BIS 8th

I think I found the reason. It's an app from HubPages to Facebook. HubPages has confirmed that the app doesn't belong to them, LOL. Nothing to do with virus, then!!! So I need to wait for another 23 hours, after being locked out a 4th time!

Amazinggrace, I just downloaded the "free edition" of BitDefender and it says 29 days left!

(P/S: I thought it's a 30-day trial version but no, they only want me to register within 30 days! That's fair enough.)

I found the cause of my problem... a Facebook app was causing the problem, not a virus. I had cleaned the computer so many times using various antivirus software and it didn't work. Now, it seems stable for the last 2 days.
