Acson is under OYL.
York is under Daikin, if not mistaken. But in Malaysia, OYL is manufacturer for Acson and York |

This was one main reason Daikin buy over OYL. Acson also from SG aircond brand name Acma. acMA become acSON after OYL took over. |

QUOTE(mrbs84 @ Apr 19 2013, 08:56 AM) Daikin is famous for its inverter tech and its variable refrigerant volume (VRV). Its something like a single outdoor unit, but supplies to multiple indoor units that can run cooling AND heating at the same time Back to your question, nevertheless, its Japanese brand. Thailand plant that manufactured msia Daikin units, are also very good quality, and yes, the design are old coz its the basic unit, not premium. Im using two units of Daikin in the house. Its inverter is really top notch. monthly bills averaging between 120 - 160. 1.5hp and 2.0hp model, using average 12 hours daily.
Drawbacks, wind doesn't blow very strong and can't actually reach 18'C after a while. For 20'C and above, it'll work very nice and comfy. Optimum temperature for sleeping is 24'C. |

When its dirty, the wind will be soft and cooling power diminish. Worse case, will have tik tik tik sound. The blower aint detachable like mitsubishi mr slim which can depart the louver by half, and blower removed for thorough brushing. I have 6 units of Daikin inverter in my house, cant comment on the bills or energy saving since the meter is ahem..ahem...Drawbacks, wind doesn't blow very strong and can't actually reach 18'C after a while. For 20'C and above, it'll work very nice and comfy. Optimum temperature for sleeping is 24'C. For optimizing the cooling effect, try to have the indoor blower service/wash. The servicemen have a special brush that can wash the blower easily without taking out the units. The aluminium fin or coil are still in good shape after 5 years. No visible corrosion. Electronics boards are all okie, and no water spooling or leaking problems so far. |

Don't actually know how they do it, but they will take off both the outdoor and indoor unit and give a good rinse of jet water and air. Can't recall how much the service though. For optimizing the cooling effect, try to have the indoor blower service/wash. But the inverter will kicks in once it reached the temperature set. When starting the aircon, I will set it to coldest temp at full blast. Then in about 30 minutes, I'll set it to optimal temperature. It saves electricity if I do it that way rather than letting the aircon slowly cool the room. Before sleeping, I'll set temperature to 24'C and silent mode. Set it to turn off automatically at 5am. By 6am, my family will usually wake up by themselves because our body will adjust to a warmer temperature. This is my secret to waking up my children early for school. |

Can't recall how much the service though. normal service is abt RM80~120 per unit. If u done twice a year, that is good enough, in fact, very good.I still not sure what econo mode does. This is my secret to waking up my children early for school. econo mode is abt selecting the most energy saving program logic for the inverter units. In econo mode, the inverter will react more prudent in achieving the set/requested temperature. inverter units is unlike normal unit. Inverter unit has motor running(compressor, cent fan) that dont just run on 50Hz(msia spec). They can run at 20~60Hz depending on models. By doing this, the motors will not draw too high current or energy whenever a parameter is out from control range. They can slowly adjust the parameters, running at slower pace when the variance is just small. Simple term, u need just 0.5celcius minor increase(cost someone open the door letting hot air in, etc), the aircond can run on 20~30Hz or 0.5HP, and when u just start the aircond, need 4~5celcius adjustment, it will run full speed 50~60Hz (2.0HP). |

After realizing its worth, I went and did some survey in the market. Back then, Panasonic had lots of top choice inverter models in the market, but they're using different type of cooling gas which is more expensive and may require different piping size. In the end, I was left between Daikin and Mitsubishi, but Mitsu's model was very few and more expensive.econo mode is abt selecting the most energy saving program logic for the inverter units. QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Apr 19 2013, 10:51 AM) Yes, most newer model AC got timer functions in the remote. Panasonic models are running on higher pressure refrigerant, which actually are more efficient, and the performance are further noticeable for heating purpose during winter time. Hence, u need thicker copper piping and joints for the Pana units. And Pana units are more modern design coz those same units are cater for premium market overseas as well.Yea, I did some read up about inverter technology before purchasing my first AC. York and Acson are sturdy and reliable, but not energy efficient. Daikin too has that higher refrigerant units, but they are not marketed here. Daikin Msia only has basic units. York and Acson actually are not energy efficient, coz OYL is lacking in inverter technology comparatively to Japanese. But York/Acson units are very high performance units and have bigger cooling btu. Those that need fast blasting cooling effect can opt for York/Acson. installed my york 1.5hp non- inverter early this year for my master bedroom.. that time dunno york & acson under same roof.. then after 2 weeks my parents installed acson 1.5hp non- inverter at their house.. during installation i'm at my parents house.. very shocked seing d acson indoor & outdoor unit + d remote control 95% same like my york aircond.. then i asked the technician, he said york & acson under same roof, same factory at sg. buloh selangor.. then i look at d s/n & info sticker at d indoor unit, yupp.. it is same factory as sticked at my york indoor unit.. just only they stick different sticker brand at d aircond unit..
