yay. First post.

And haha you added the thread version statistic table too.

Advice: you need to add the date the statistic was taken, because as time goes by, the page views number increases.

Still pretty good speed for the thread.

S4 is definitely out of my budget, better stick to S3 for a while first as I just bought it 1 week ago. Btw I am post no 2!

s3 is still an overall good device. Some people prefer 4.7" vs 5".

s4 not needed yet..because the features in s4 like the pause and scroll thing are just software features, who knows maybe samsung might bring the features it to the s3 like the multi windows from note 2.

one more thing, s3 will get android 5.0 along with note 2 and s4.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif so it might not be worth it to upgrade from the s3 to s4, in my opinion
*
The key limitation of S3 is the 1Gb RAM. You might be able to upgrade, but you probably won't get a smooth experience.

I have to say all this rubbish and misconceptions about having to clear apss/processes comes from the iPhone..

For the next person who comes here to ask about task killer apps.

PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE.!

Actually I think maybe Xeactor can put it up on the first page since almost daily people come in here to ask about task killing and ram usage.. And people don't actually know what is it all about and are confused. Most people here that are new to Android seems to think that a task killer app is a "must" for their phones(like how antivirus is a must too, but it is not). They don't know that it actually does more harm than good so it'll be a good thing to educate our fellow Android users. smile.gif
*
Nice one m'lord. Will post on note2 page 1 as well. However there could be valid reasons for the sparing use of task killers due to hung apps at times.

** WARNING ESPECIALLY TO NOOBS **

Scam Alert: Don't Get Duped By Root-Android.com
http://www.androidpit.com/scam-alert-don-t...oot-android-com

user posted image

Just a PSA to anyone out there thinking of rooting their devices: don't trust any site that wants to charge you to use their software.

A prime example is "Root-Android.com." This site claims to be able to "root any device" using a single piece of software for the low, low price of $30. But does it actually work?

The problem is there is no single piece of software that can root any phone model without any input needed from the user. Rooting instructions are drastically different depending on your carrier and model, and you should be wary of any website that says it can root your device "with a single click." Especially if that site wants to charge you.

Root-Android.com preys on the inexperienced and uninformed. Knowing that the majority of new phone owners don't really know what "rooting" is, they've filled their website with erroneous information about what rooting can do for your phone. The site lists "screen shot" as one of their top ten apps that require root because "it's a sad fact that Android shops with no way to take a screenshot." In fact, that hasn't been true since Gingerbread.

xeactorz don't know if warnings like this warrant page 1 posting tongue.gif hopefully there aren't people gullible enough.

Anyone face this problem before and any solution to it? I googled and it seem that a number of user are having this problem as well but no solution.

Probly its been discuss before but I cant read through all the post and search button not giving me much help.

Thanks!

It is called SDS - Sudden Death Syndrome. Due to a fault in the Samsung chip, the chip has a chance of dying and the motherboard needs replacement.

I think 4 cores is ideal. Seriously what are we going to do with 8 cores? What's the heaviest app you use?

Screen size is big enough on the S3 and stretching your hand to read the top of the notification bar is a pain sometimes and what more with the S4? Air gestures are very redundant and slow. You actually have to wait for the sensor to detect your hand movement and it IS NOTICEABLE. Would you really scroll a web browser with your eyes when your thumb is right there?

Only thing i can think of on the S4 that's tempting is the 13MP cam. Unless you are upgrading from S2 then I think S4 wont be worth it. Don't forget about the bloatware.

Bloatware S4
*
Correction. It is not "8" cores (although physically there are), but 2 sets of 4 cores. You are still using 4 cores at any one time. One set is low power, good enough performance for regular use and one set is high power, high performance for gaming or other heavy duty use. The hardware performs the switching which is invisible to the user.

This has been posted from February already when Samsung announced the Octa core marketecture.

Why the ang-mohs lust after Octa is due to the higher performance of the high power cores as compared to the S600 cores which they are getting.

Well, i agree with joytest you're a penipu because there will be no reason for people to sell off S4 just for S3 unless you got a high margin profit

I *didn't* say he was one. It was a question for waveweaver.

Like I said, I am not taking sides. If I were you I would not engage myself anymore with her. We all know who has over-stepped the boundaries.

When one loses all senses not to mention decorum and start lashing out with personal attacks and not addressing the subject matter, it tells on oneself. Others will then not bother who is more right or for that matter, more wrong. Why can't she see that?

Run a Quadrant or Antutu benchmark...and read the phone system info from those test.

I would expect it to come around 7k-9k tops. It should show SMDK 4x12 for the CPU and probably PowerVR531 for the GPU tongue.gif

Sometimes Android apps are crap, it's a fact of life, that leads to a laggy phone. My wife's S3 has been in use for almost 1 year and there is no lag because there are not many games and when the kids install games that cause lag it gets promptly booted off the phone.

There are far too many apps/games that are not properly done *cough* Viber/Go *cough* leading to poor battery life and lagginess.

Then again some people complain about 1s, 2s of lag, and there was a comparison that measured 4.3s vs 5.7s for startup or something like that.

I'm quite sure a factory reset with a curated app installation process will immediately cause the S3 to perform excellently.

And ipong has NO WIDGETS. Try using widgets and see if it lags or not. A screen full of widgets is also going to lag. Not an entirely valid comparison, and the underlying philosophies are completely different.
