Usually Lego will throw in some special parts for their Exclusive sets making it not so easy/cheap to put one together...
Is it so hard to find a vendor meh? You must be trying to find one selling below USD$240 then! Let me know if you do find it at a good price, maybe I'll dive in also! hahaha! nod.gif

Love the design of the helicopter and ambulance, you also get two stretchers! I think this set is good value as it uses lots of bricks with grooves, you don't see it in the picture as the grooves are facing inside. Playability is also very good, my daughter loves it! nod.gif

QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Apr 29 2013, 06:50 PM)
Here's some updates on sets to be discontinued or already discontinued courtesy of my supplier:

June 2013: Monster Fighters, City Space, Creator sets 5766 & 5891, 1st series of Chima Speedorz, LOTR 9469 & 9472.

December 2013: 10197 Fire Brigade & 10227 B-Wing Starfighter

Recently discontinued: 3677 Red Cargo Train & 7965 Millennium Falcon

3677 and 7965 prices have not moved up yet as not many are aware of it, there are still stocks floating around either in distributors warehouse or retailers' stores. As far as TLG is concerned it is EOL and will no longer be rolling out of their production lines. As usual, once the remaining stocks disappear from the market prices will start to head north...

I regret selling my 3677, if I knew it was going EOL I would have hang on to it! You know who you are, you got a good deal! doh.gif  wink.gif

Lucky the persons who approached me for my 7965 wanted to think about it, so now sales is withdrawn. I want to play with it and was considering selling thinking I can re-order but since it is already EOL I want to keep my only set. I'm still trying to sapu whatever remaining sets of 7965 from my supplier but still no reply from them, maybe they are also stocking up for price appreciation! rclxub.gif

The retirement of 10197 Fire Brigade is expected, still no official words from TLG regarding retirement dates for 10211 and 10218. Don't wait too long though, I think it will be soon too...

I was shocked to see 10227 B-Wing Starfighter in the list, I wrote to my supplier for clarification but have yet to hear from them.

Hope this will help you to plan/expedite your Lego purchases! icon_idea.gif

Nice... 7965 I grab before it EOL... Any idea when DS will EOL? Its been around for quite some time already... Say.. 4 years already?

hmm.gif i was wondering a set usually last how many years b4 it is EOL?
*
Well, I guess this is very subjective question. While people speculate that eol normally is like every 2 years, but look at Death Star, so many years already still in production, because it sells hot for Lego. I guess eol this topic would rather depends on sales figure from Lego, I guess

Yeah I actually wanted more but lucky I decided to buy one first to check out the quality...

Any kind souls can help me pick this up from Tesco? I need 4. I'm willing to trade Lego for it! notworthy.gif
You're welcomed! Go haul like a tycoon!  cool2.gif
It's hard to say, some sets stays in production longer than others. Ultimately it is a business and marketing decision Lego has to make... Some decisions may baffle us but I'm sure they have their reasons... I think usually minimum 2-3 years depending on how successful sales are... The decision UCS B-Wing is puzzling. rclxub.gif
I think 10188 Death Star is either already EOL or going to be end of this year. The lot I bought was suppose to be promotional price before it goes EOL...
*
But so far I see that DS sales is very good, if they were to kill the line I guess it would be such a waste and kill their own sales figure. If they kill their UCS line of death star, I'm not surprise though. Its like one of the most cacat ball on this world.

Thanks for the answer... LOL make me thinking to buy Millenium falcon or not... I am not a star wars fans but MF is just too awesome...

just go get it if you like it... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Apr 29 2013, 10:46 PM)
The Red Cargo Train is not so common and it is priced much higher than 7938 and 7939, maybe that's why it is not so popular and Lego decided to chop it. Looking back now, the months leading up to its retirement prices has come down by 30+%. If only I knew it was going EOL I would have ordered more! cry.gif

Choo choo fans may want to keep in mind that 3677 was released in 2011 while both 7938 and 7939 were released a year earlier in 2010. My bet is 7938 will be the next train set heading for retirement, another indicator of this is Amazon UK slashing prices on this set. I have mentioned many times before, IMHO 7938 is the cheapest way to get hold of Power Functions components. If you plan on adding power functions to your Maersk, Emerald Night or Horizon Express then I suggest you buy two sets of 7938: Transfer the Power Functions to another train and then combine two sets of 7938 to make a longer train! wink.gif So take advantage of the Amazon offer(s) before its over!

I have until December to save up for my B-Wing... I was reading up on the UCS Millennium Falcon early this year and it seemed back then there were no takers for the set and retailers have loads of them. Right before going EOL retailers slashed prices and some guys were lucky enough to pick up a few at a bargain. Look at the prices now! The B-Wing will definitely not generate that sort of interests like the MF but I personally like it very much as a display piece.
Ah! Lovely set, I have it too. The cheapest seller for this set in BL is located in France (BL store name: Chiwal's Shop), have you tried asking this seller for a shipping quote? I think shipping from Europe for this set can be around 20 Euros depending on which country. Actually the shipping charges from USA that you quoted earlier was also not bad given the size of this set, downside is USA is very far and shipping will take longer if it's not priority.
Me no big crazy Star Wars fan either but iconic pieces like this I like!! lol! nod.gif
*
Personally I think UCS MF is one of the best craft that UCS had so far.

If I were to take train set, I guess I will be playing it with manual push laugh.gif and making the train sound...

rrp is 1999 rite? can i expect 1800 to be a *decent* price?
*
Well, if you spend enough time finding, you able to get 1.6k range of DS... Trust me. Its not that hard to find.

I think if from asia is cheaper than usa, is it? (maybe the difference of shipping cost...)
yeah... I also not into train until i read the review for emerald night...
wow... when will the show available...
*
Well, most of the time actually is cheaper from US because maybe its near to their source, that is what I think. and the the shipping that cost and hike up the price eventually.

In Asia, I encounter supplier that ship FREE (or maybe they already calculate the cost of shipping) and yet still cheaper than buying in Msia.

Either way, you have to becareful as not all the suppliers are honest as they may overcharge the shipping fee for profit purpose. Therefore whenever you tried to ship something, make sure you agak-agak- calculate whether is the shipping "make sense" or not. Impossible you gonna ship a box that is smaller than 9495 with USD $60... that is ridiculous.... I do sometimes catch some of the suppliers by notifying them overcharge on shipping, most willing to calculate the "correct" fee but some is rather nasty and cancel transactions. Nothing can be done.

So far I have yet buy anything from Middle East (hope not find a Glow-in-Dark-Ghost coated with Uranium) or from New Zealand... unknown to be for those country...

My major supply came from HK, Korea, Jap, Aus, Msia, US, UK, and Europe site...

The main reason why I'm so into Emerald Night is because I like things that is vintage / traditional (not sure if that is the suitable expression). I always hope my ex to dressed up in those vintage feel kind of clothing.. but I never force her tongue.gif I like vintage stuff... and I'm planning to get some vintage set from Amcorp this weekend perhaps? I saw something that I love when I still own the set (until my mum clear all my toy away)

Sad to say....
