Wow! it's been years since the first "The Longest Journey" ever came out.

I played the first game when I was only 15+ years old. Jack Thompson would have this game banned if he saw the Flipper talk to April. Anyway, is there a release date for Malaysia?

It's an adventure game(with a bit of action).

The story is about...."Zo� Castillo is about to get involved in a conspiracy that spans parallel worlds and hundreds of years.
Something is affecting our world: static interference disrupts technology, and it seems to be linked to a ghostly presence seen only by a few - a presence inhabiting a black house in a wintry landscape.
As Zo� begins her search for a lost friend, she discovers that there is a magical world behind our own - and the search is now on for the one person who may help Zo� unravel the dangerous web she has become entangled in...........April Ryan."

This is more towards storytelling and less on action so all those action junkies who go to CCs to play CS, War3 or RO will immediately throw this game into the dustbin. Those who appreaciate a good storyline and Oscar worthy voiceover will enjoy this game.

For those who haven't played the first game, they really should. As the story will most likely get complicated and confused those new to the game storyline. The first game was hailed as one of the best adventure game of all times.

for those praying GTAs and Halos and Dooms as gods, then this game is NOT for you...because it requires psychological interactive mentality...

the ign score's kinda dissapointing. I have great expectation for this game. Not really for the graphics or gameplay or anything like that, but for the most important thing of all, the storytelling.

The first game has such a good story that everything else doesnt matter.

Sigh... will read the review now.

Errr, dumbed down puzzles? TLJ had one of the best puzzles for an adventure game... Very Myst like (Minus the constant backtracking) and not nonsensical (Like Lucasarts games), William's style you could call it...

And now?

I'm still gonna play it nonetheless... I just hope its not Syberia II bad.

Well get ready for some low expectations. Like Deus Ex 2, people are rubbing thisgame because it's made for the controller. The day M$ invented XBOX was the day PC gaming head towards the bottomless pit with STUPID, IDIOTIC and DUMBED down gameplay. Once again please show M$ your gratitude by throwing rubbish and pissing in front of their Redmond office.

i simply LOVE the first game. they did a good job mixing fantasy into April's reality world. the storyline was nothing less than fantastic.

Hehe, the game is addictive. Too bad I'm busy with assignments. If not, for sure I'll play the game till finish in 1 seating. There are 13 chapters in the game (14, if you include the short prologue). 7 more chapters for me to go.

Yes, the game does come in 6 CDs. Not sure if there are DVD version or not. I got mine in CD version.

I've never played The Longest Journey. Is it like Anachronox? Love that game. Ended with a cliffhanger ending. Till now, no sequel. Damn!!!

Nope. Anachronox is RPG game. The Longest Journey (the first game) is point and click adventure (a-la Syberia, Broken Sword) while the sequal Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is an action adventure game.

i was hoping the game to be more of point & click kind of game and there're fighting involved... which is very unexpected. i nvr played the 1st game b4.

There are fighting in the game, but it's combat system is too simple. Only got 3 buttons, light attack, heavy attack, block.

I also haven't played the 1st game. Going to do so after I finished playing Dreamfall.

i'm gonna play this game only when i groww older...hehehe coz its more laidback...now gonna go fraggin' time!

but maybe need to finish TLJ (first one) first...

BTW, you don't need to play the first game before playing Dreamfall. There's a summary of what happened in the first game in the manual book.

The storyline is great. It addictive, and you'll want to know what will happen next.

Well, graphics depend whether you're demanding or not. I'll post some screenshot from my gameplay:






This screenshot are taken with all details setting turned up, and max anti-aliasing.

The graphics are nice, but for me who are used to graphics in game like Oblivion, Tomb Raider Legend, F.E.A.R, I'll say that the graphic in Dreamfall are not as nice as I expected. They look like an Xbox game. On the bright side, it don't have high graphic card requirement. Recommended graphic card is GeForce 5700 or ATI 9550 only.

Gameplay is solid, but the combat system is too simple for my liking. Also, the camera angle is arkward when you're in place with small space; but this is rare.

i jus got the game n i must say im truly amazed by it. The graphics especially. It runs so smooth on my X700mobility wif maxed out settings n it even looks lik HDR!!! hahaha. good game. esp wif da chinese opening...

Look like HDR?

If HDR look like that, than there's no point buying expensive graphic cards to enable HDR.

I'm currently at chapter 4. Fullah mak, it works with GeForce 4 Ti 4200. The settings it detected is High for both Graphics Quality and Effects Quality at 1024by768. Those fellas at Aspyr said my card is not supported. Nasib baik I didn't percaya them.

There were a few conversation scenes i.e. Zoe talked to her dad, where Zoe seldom rolled her eyes or stared at the ceiling. It looked like whatever she was going to say would be sarcastic


Anyway I loved this game.

I finished the game 2 days ago. I'm still in the daze, great storyline, superb music. Feels so sad when its over.So many question remains. dammit I want Dreamfall 3 now!

Go out and start preaching to your family, relatives and friends how they have to buy the ORIGINAL game. That way we can get Dreamfall 2, Longest Journey 3 or whatever it's gonna be called ASAP.

i'm in process of replaying dreamfall again & after that, TLJ.
Pretty good discussion going on at dreamfall forum, anything to getting zoe ringing tone to part 3 speculations. Its a good read if you can't get rid dreamfall out of your mind yet

just finished the game as well here, i would say that the graphics are only at average level, but then again, i really loved the landscape and the environment design. They really put you in the mood. Storyline is not bad but like many others commented. The ending is really unsatisfying... why both of the female cast have to die

yeah no only that. The bad guys is getting away wif everything.. Part 3 now!

its more like... click here and there, if ur not those kind that really enjoys the story more than action, then this isnt for you. It has great story, but nearly no actions.

hm... I saw the trailer form my latest PCGM's CD, there are guns inside (not carried by the actress)

6CDs doesn't mean the game will be long lah. Can finish in less than 10 hours.

Go talk to LucasArts Games President. He publically declare how old television IP such as 'Bewitched' or 'Dukes of Hazzard' sucks when remade for the modern movie audience, which is why the old LucasArts IP such as Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle will stay dead and buried "until at least 2015".

For those who think that TLJ 2 graphic sucks, try playing TLJ 1, the graphic is even much more worst, well....TLJ release around 2001, if i'm not mistaken.

I still have TLJ 1 with me, its 4 CD. puzzel is quite ok (I love playing adventure game, from company like Sierra, Lucasart, Dreamworks...etc...etc) To me TLJ 1 puzzel is quite easy.

For those who wants TLJ 1, let me know. still have the CD with me in good condition

How can compare game released in 2006 with game released in 2000? By the way, The Longest Journey get the best graphic for PC game in 2000.

Good : Storyline, graphics, uncensored dialogue

Bad : Controls (fighting is useless), almost pointless to people who never played TLJ, CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!
