I've posted some images taken from a 24" DELL 2405FPW. Not exactly good pics (taken from a HP) but at least it'll give u a rough idea how they might look like on a LCD.

For those using VGA on the Dell 2405, I'm sure u'll noticed that the colors are all washed out compared to the components. However, there is a way to "fix" it.
Below is what i got from Hardforums. ------------ It requires going into the service menu while the vga is connected. Under the special factory settings hidden screen there are some settings for adjusting vga signals. offset1: R G B offset2: R G B Gain : R G B. I found that droping the values of offset1/offset2, slightly boosting gain helped get the vga blacks looking black, which offcourse brought the richness in the colours back in to the vga signal. then you can just tweak the brightness/constrast to your liking. Obviously changing these settings in the service menu will screw the colours on normal pc vga signals so if you do change these value write down the original defaults if you wish to set things back to normal. ----------------- To get into the service menu, turn off u'r LCD. Then press MENU, +, and the POWER button. U'll get into the service menu. Here's a screenshot on how mine looks like after the "fix". ![]() |

6 cables?
Video - Red, Green , Blue Audio - Red, White (These 2 are tied together) So should be only 5 inputs that u have to deal with. Your 17" LCD monitor will definitely give u a sharper picture. |

I would definitely choose the one with a dead pixel at the upper corner as its not in u'r line of sight. Why don't complain it to dell that u'r dead pixels are smacked right in the middle of the screen. Who knows they might be sympathetic and actually replace another one for u? The last time I bought my Dell 2405, it had one on the left end..I complain till I vomit blood. I eventually got a RM150 rebate. No luck in getting it replaced though.
QUOTE(lexasp @ Jan 8 2007, 09:57 AM) Em... guys, I need some advice here. Just got my replacement Dell 2007wfp. It is a S-IPS panel and Rev A03, but the problem is it have 2 dead pixel in the middle of the screen and 1 dead pixel on the bottom corner. So I wonder shall I keep my old one which is a S-PVA panel with Rev A02? Coz the old one only have 1 dead pixel which is on the upper corner. Coz it is not so obvious in the corner as compare to the new one which is right in the middle. It would be great if you all can help me figure out which one to pick, I am kinda bad luck, no matter which 1 I choose, in the end it will gonna end up with something wrong, so I dont dare and dont know which one to choose. Thanks for the help. |

Problem is, when u do a return, u gotta pay for the shipping fees. If the first unit is acceptable, stick with it lo.
One thing u have to realize about DELL is that their products are never "top" quality. That's to be expected considering the price. Eg, u can't compare their 24" with say.. a MAC 24" LCD. If u observe carefully, the Macs display are always sharper and brighter but they also cost a whole lot more. To cut the long story short, u get what u pay for. |

How about this one? I saw it at Tan Boon Ming
http://www.sharp.com.my/web/srssc/productd...?pcode=LC32PX5M IMO, it looks better than the Samsung R7 but its also more expensive. I think i'm gonna save up for one. Sure beats playing it on a Dell 24".. Arghh..so many things to buy, so little money. |

I was just thinking..how usable is the R7 if I'm going to double it as a PC monitor (meaning I'll be sitting right in front of it).. I only use my PC to watch DVDs and surf the web.. then again, I guess its gonna suck if I use it to view Photographs and do Photoshop work.
The R7 is now going @ RM 3999...very affordable |

Yeah i know..but how usable is it gonna be?. Eg. can u do photoshop work on it? and how about browsing? ok ah? Because if it is, i don't see the point in keeping my Dell 24" should i decide to get a R7 for myself.
QUOTE(yoroi @ Mar 7 2007, 07:00 PM) you can't go wrong with a r7... good price point and good performance... Actually u can. They always have this 2 models side by side and u can easily tell that the R7 picture is sharper and more contrasty (if there's such a word).as for using it as a pc display, i use it to do some work from time to time and it works well... have to remember though that the resolutions will be much much lower than a pc monitor QUOTE(imreezm @ Mar 7 2007, 07:06 PM) |

Guys... I was at Best Denki Midvalley today before watching 300 at 4pm.. When i was there the 32R7 was selling at RM3999 with a RM150 voucher. After the movie, I went there again and it was selling at RM3799. So I went ahead and bought 1.
A word of caution. There's a 32N7 demo unit there selling for RM 3999, a steal considering a new one cost RM 4799 at HSL. Was so tempted to get it until I noticed there's a deal pixel at the bottom. |

yes, mine is set to high. Care to share u're settings? I'll try to plug u'r settings into mine and see if its really black. I dunno about GoW but I'm trying hard to get the PS3 Nav menu background to black...i can do it but i'll have to reduce the Brightness to about 30.
Regarding the calibration dvd that bro judge mentioned, where did u get it? Can make a copy ah? Thx! QUOTE(arj @ Mar 18 2007, 09:50 AM) Have you set the power saving to HIGH? The black level looks good to me, I used main screen of GoW for reference, the blacks looks as black as the frame This post has been edited by welwitchia: Mar 18 2007, 11:51 AM |
