If you can get widescreen, go for it.

If you're on budget, you can go for a Sony TV with Progressive Scan capability, then buy component cables for the 360 and you can enable 480P which is very nice and sharp already.

like i said in the earlier post, after reading all u guys awesome feedback laugh.gif
ive decided (of course this is with my budget of RM1k at the most) to get

a) a 19 inch widescreen LCD monitor
or
b) a 20++ inch CRT monitor

the question is which should i get? tongue.gif

and yeah..if i wanted to watch a movie i already have a nice dvd player with a big tv(not a hdtv la, thats why i dnt want to play my future xbox360 on it sweat.gif )
so im not sure if i need a "widescreen" feature

LOL... that was not directed at you, just letting you guys know what I found just now biggrin.gif

As for your question, go for the 19" widescreen as you'll loose lots of space when playing a widescreen game on a normal monitor.

If you're a student then you've already made your decision already, save your money and just use your current computer display.

for a HD quality yet cheaps get SONY KV-DB29M61. only for RM1.8k icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually, it's ED/ PAL resolution, meaning that you can get ~576 instead of the normal 720++ lines resolved over the TV. I have a KV-DA29M61 and I'm regretting now. (New one is just a slight revision, I don't expect them to drop a super fine pitch tube inside)

THe ONLY Sony True HD CRT TVs are the KV-HR series- 3000+ ringgit.
I just realised I was ripped, emailed to Sony, got no response... somebody sue them.

the cheapest KV-HR models is KV-HR29M61 which is RM4k++, and it still not true HD since it is not widescreen. the plus point it have super fine pitch.

for the resolutions, i reads it somewhere KV-DA/DB upconverts 720p signal to 1080i. and i believe KV-HR also doing the same thing. the only reason KV-HR looks better than KV-DA/DB is because of super fine pitch, more dot per-inch, which makes the tv much more expensive. but the KV-DA/DB models price is only half from KV-HR.

I'm using a VX2025wm with the Xbox 360. It does not have pixel matching meaning that it will stretch any non-widescreen input to fill the entire screen instead of adding black bars on the sides.

This is not an issue with the Xbox 360 as the video signal is in widescreen. Possible problems if you use it for PC gaming and the game does not support widescreen. However, you can always enable pixel matching using your video game drivers. From what I have read from the [H]ardForums (probably the same place where Google sent you), there are issues with 7900 users as it seems the pixel matching cannot be switched on.

If you only want to use the VX2025wm with the Xbox 360 then it's not a problem. If you want to use it with your PC as well, you are ok as well unless you happen to use a 7900 video card.

If you only wish to use the Viewsonic with the Xbox 360 and save some money, the VA1912wb is probably fine. But if you wish to use it with your PC as well, I'll advise to get the VX2025wm as it has higher resolution, higher contrast and DVI input for better looking text.

well..if u can afford the 20 inch then u should definately go fr it laugh.gif im using a 19inch widescreen myself tongue.gif and ive gotta say its friggin awesome
another question u might want to ponder on is "how often will u be gaming on ur 360?" coz if ur answer is like twice a week/only during the weekends..then why waste the extra RM500 eh? wink.gif besides..LCD prices are known for dropping really fast and really steep. About a month ago the LCD model ur looking to get cost RM1700 fr the 20inch whistling.gif
hope this helps u make ur decision

Yeah, 19" widescreen is indeed value. Now I think you can get it for less than RM1000, which is amazing since I got mine about 3 months ago for RM1350 tongue.gif But no regrets, it was worth it, I can't imagine playing my 360 on a non-widescreen res laugh.gif

Now I'm just waiting for 24" to go down less than RM2K whistling.gif
