Make sure u have a progressive scan DVD player. When i first got my Philips DVD player, it defaults to non-progressive and the picture is so butt-ugly with all the deinterlaced lines. Once I turn it on, picture quality gets much better..but one thing u have to realized is that LCD TVs show all the flaws of DVD (mainly, low resolution).. The trick is to sit further back and if possible, decrease the sharpness level of u'r LCD monitor. Sad thing is that we can't rent Blueray or HD-DVD movies. I believe i speak for the majority of us here when i say we cant always buy or afford these HD movies. QUOTE(hairyLGS @ Mar 19 2007, 12:42 PM) Bought the 32' inch LG LCD TV... for 8MS, playing FNR3 still got ghosting... but with that big screen in my small room... everything looks big... playing an original DVD on the other hand... it looks quite bad... hmmm... not sure if its the player or the TV...

I got this one http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/c...RESHP3HKFSEKI5PSuppose to upscale DVDs too but only with the HDMI output. I tried it and it didn't work..lol Reviews of this player here: http://www.dtvforum.info/lofiversion/index.php/t39338.htmlThe best thing about this dvd player is the presence of a USB port. So basically, the TV series i download (e.g CSI) , I just transfer to my thumbdrive and watch it with this dvd player. So far, its not bad. Just don't expect miracles. Oh yeah, the price RM 499. I think for that price, its a steal! Did i mention that the DVD player looks good too?

Why would u want a HD-DVD player? ok, my personal views is that Blue-ray is gonna win the HD war.(yes my opinion..so pls, LYN readers don't need to gimme facts that its otherwise, I know there's already another thread on this). On the other hand, u can get a PS3 that plays blue rays movie as well. Lol, please I know its a 360 forum, don't flame me.

If u ask me, in terms of picture quality, they should be both the same, especially on a 32 inch. Then again, PQ depends on the movie too. I believe i saw Serendipity HD-DVD in Mediaplex and its looked baaad. I believe Blue-ray will win because they gave garnered so much support from the movie industry. Its hard to imagine how they'll end up losing to HD-DVD. Oh, then again, my views are biased since i have a PS3 and hence a Blue-ray player. Die HD-DVD, die!! Looks like the 37" S8 is exclusive to this MBF deal. I'm still considering if i should get this to replace my 32" R7 which is IMO a real piece of $hit.

I might be wrong here but if the S8 are similar to the S7, then the default settings are set to Dynamic which is crap to begin with. Set it to "movie" mode and then compare it with the Sharps. That might be a "fairer" comparison.
Hmm..on another note, whats the cheapest 1080p LCD now?
