i don't really recommend that redbull, your 2007 is an excellent monitor for the x360 already...extra 4" is really no biggie...

furthermore, judging from your system specs on ur sig, 1920x1200 pc gaming might not be suitable for fluid frame rates.

If u wanna go bigger, then invest either in a decent 1080p lcd tv, or wait for the new 24" benq revision (with scaling fix) to reach MY. But God only knows how long that's gonna take...

Pretty impressive how it's available here so fast. I'd expect it to go the usual rounds in Japan, UK and US before we finally get a piece...

But then again, you'd need some 8800 sli going on to run games @ 2560 x 1600.
The 27" has a native reso of 1920x1200.

got off the phone with Dell Support earlier...

I tell you, speaking with the morons in tech support requires alotta patience man...

I spent 15 mins speaking to 2 dumb girls and TEACHING THEM the difference between drivers and monitor revisions.

Finally they found out for me the REVA04 for the 2407 isn't in MY yet...which is no surprise to me cuz the A04  has only been out for 1 week or so in Sg...

So the usual case number was given to me and they'll call me once the A04 touches our shores (yea right, i'll prolly have to call them weekly for an update)

This Dell 2407 REVA04 support 1080p ? At what resolution ? And DHCP ready ? So many ppl looking for this model..might change if it does support 1080p..

redbull, any news about the a04 from your side?

it's only popping up here and there in Sg and Japan and a few in US.

There were ppl who ordered after the news of ppl getting a04 and they STILL got the a03.

much like everyone is saying, they'll prolly try and clear all the a03 or sell it to as many ppl who don;t care about a03 or a04 b4 cuz they wanna reduce the cost of reflashing their whole stock of 2407 and also to reduce cost of picking up the monitors from us and sending it back for reflashing.

Dell is a pretty tricky lot.

For MONTHS we 2407 owners have been shouting at the top of our lungs for a 1:1 fix. All we got was total ignorance and the closing of one eye.

The minute benq releases a 1:1 fix for their own 24", they come in guns blazing with their own fix.

which possibly summarizes dell's policy:
"If it's broke, fix it...IF our competitors do"

i don't see any differences between 720p and 1080i on my samsung lcd with component...

Speaking of which, I have received my A04 revision.

This time, it does work as advertised. Banding is almost non existent. Everything surely does look better now.

The washout issue for VGA input's still there, but it can be fixed easily via the service menu.

Everything's in the original package. I received one refurbished one before, but I returned it straight away.It's a brand new unit this time.

I thought I'm getting a refurbished unit since I've been using the current one for more than half a year now If I'm not mistaken. Lucky for me I guess...

Make some noise? You don't have to go round shouting at people, just tell them nicely what you're not happy with, and why you wanted a replacement unit, I guess they'll be more than happy to replace it for you, it's not like they have anything to loose.

I just got myself a 2407 dell monitor with the A04 revision, a lot of people is saying its good cause of something called a 1:1 thingy. I'm using the HDAV cables provided not VGA and i've set my 360 settings to display at 1080i. However when i set my monitor settings to 1:1 it shows the black bars on all 4 sides.

As you can tell i'm very much a newbie so all advice is appreciated. Especially what should the optimal settings for monitor be?

Because I thought the HDAV cables can only go up to 1080i...only vga cables can support 1080p right.....?

I've tried both 720p and 1080p and I can't see any difference.... really, I looked high and low for it and I'm pretty anal about graphics. The screen is just too small to show the minor differences. The Xbox UI feels a bit more sluggish too (the UI bar on the left screen when you click on the middle button) Maybe it's just me though.

My bad. I only have the 360 to test the output with. Everything else is being displayed from My PC. Like you said, 1080 videos looks way better than 720p videos.

The differences is quite pronounce maybe because we're sitting so close to the monitor. Once you move back a few feet, it looks pretty much the same. Even a lousy PS2 graphics on this monitor looks pretty good when you're not sticking your nose up to the monitor (normal computer viewing distance vs normal tv viewing distance)

Since we're on the topic of resolution, if I were to purchase a 40', will I see a huge difference between a 1080p & 720p?

If that's the case, that means 1080p != 1080 pixels for the component input. How's the quality like? I need to do quite a lot of adjustments in order to make the VGA looks good. The original image appears a bit too washed out. It looks freaking good now though....

The 30' Dell monitor is not exactly a TV as it requires dual DVI to power the freaking high resolution 2560x1600. So I guess that's pretty much out of the picture at the moment.
