lulz..
now even i got stable 4G
the battery still sux..
ahaha..
anyone changed their battery n got better?
*
Known fact, faster connection speed == shorter battery life.

There's a reason why a lot of us recommend using 2G is you want max battery life.

Even with full signal 4G, it still draws more power than a few bars of 2G

Is 2G still unstable at your place?

Are there any member from KK here, who know where can I buy the cheapest NL920? Currently it still sells at rm1,999 here when it supposed to be rm1,699 by now, right? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
*
You can go to Metro Electronics in basement Karamunsing. They are selling at rm1699 since I was there last week. As for colours, would be best if you call them up.

Wah! Even Digi now offers Yellow & Red colours for online order!

WOW! You're the best, man!  thumbup.gif  I'm so pumped up right now! Few days ago I used the Nokia's Store Locator to find any shop that sells Nokia Lumia 920 in KK and Metro Electronics is in the list.. This is a good sign. I'm going there tomorrow, hopefully the primary or secondary color that I want is available.
*
No problem. Hope you get the colour that you want. thumbup.gif

I had to wait 2 1/2 months to get the colour that I want.

I just called the shop, colors option has no problem.. Red and yellow are available, didnt ask for cyan tho.. but in the end I'm going with white.. Sure it doesnt stand out like the other 3 but I had to match it with my car. Haha.

So should I ask them to update the firmware for me or should I do it manually?
*
You can ask them to help check what is the firmware version of the current selling phones. You can also bring it to Nokia Care in Star City linkbridge for free updating. I've not done it myself but my phone is in Nokia Care, pending repair cry.gif

QUOTE(Calex @ Apr 18 2013, 03:17 PM)
What about contacts etc? Cause most of my stuff is in the Google ecosystem so, say, how do I bring in contacts at the least?

And regarding video playback, what formats work and what doesn't?
*
You can add your gmail account to the phone then all your contacts, calendars will show up on the phone. It's a 2 way sync also. Or you can just import all your contacts from Gmail to Outlook.com then use Outlook.com email to sign in. You'll need a hotmail.com/outlook.com/live.com account anyway to use the phone.

Regarding video formats, AFAIK the ones NOT supported are MKV, RMVB & any video that has AC3 audio encoded. Divx, avi & mp4 works fine. Oh ya there's no subtitles support.

Gyroscope seems to have died so all auto rotate functions gone. I played Temple Run it also can't detect me tilting the phone left/right. Worse I can't even open camera using camera key or app anymore cry.gif

My colour? Yellow!! laugh.gif

LOL! Don't jinx yourself lah. My cousin who bought a red Lumia 920 same time with me didn't suffer from it also. Just my luck. This is the 1st time in my life I have to warranty claim a Nokia phone. Been using Nokia since 3210. Anyone remember that sexy brick? laugh.gif

Right after my last post, I drove to kk and bought my lumia 920.. I couldnt be more happier.. I love it.. At last minute I chose yellow.. No regret. Haha. Thanks again man.. You played a big part in me getting my Lumia 920.. The lady boss was very nice, even gave me discount.. I paid rm1650..  cool2.gif

I'm targeting the Fatboy next  brows.gif

There's one thing though.. We all know the lumia 920 is known for it's prowess in taking pic in low light condition but, I compare it with my sis' s2, no different pun..  hmm.gif
*
Hey another yellow user!!! Hahaha! Great that you got discount also. Very happy for you. rclxms.gif

Anyway, I got the Wireless Charging Stand while my cousin got the Fatboy charger. I prefer the stand which only cost RM10 more hehe. But it's not as portable as Fatboy.

About taking pic in low light, you have to know a little how to use it. The best way I found to showcase it is you have a dark place with some light coming from behind u when you take the pic. It can be just a dim light so the room is dim. Remember, the camera amplifies low light, but it needs some light to work. So completely dark places with no light or just moon light doesn't work. I've tried those situations already.

QUOTE(adam ultimo @ Apr 22 2013, 07:35 AM)
Guys, what are the must have apps for lumia 920?
*
I think there are a lot of must have apps now like the usual chat apps, fb, twitter, camera lens. Check www.wpcentral.com often for tips & app sales. Heck buy the wpcentral app, it's worth it.

QUOTE(LightningZERO @ Apr 22 2013, 09:09 AM)
Get all the lenses available on the store, and then there's the usual whatsapp, wechat, viber, Line social apps. Do get the Rapdialer. Very useful.

Last night before I slept off, my phone was around 81% and ended up 13% when I woke up. I think I didn't quit all the apps before I went to sleep but I never remember my phone to be so power consuming before I update..I only let weather app and metrotube to run behind the background...
*
If you encounter such behavior, best just restart the phone. That solves it all the time for me.

Finally got my phone back on last Saturday. Mainboard changed & updated to 1308 firmware. Have to say the whole phone feels even smoother now than I remember it.

Oh and congrats to you bro zachary, you got your lumia back.. cool. do you put casing on your lumia?
*
You're welcomed! Yeah I use a casing, got a few actually. Have hard back covers which were cheap but a bit disappointing, got the official Nokia cover which still attracts dirt too fast. Then I got the Rock hard cover & have been using it since.

QUOTE(adam ultimo @ Apr 23 2013, 01:03 AM)
i see. what example of good free apps that only available in US region?
*
There are so many!!! Haha! 1st place is check Nokia Collection, they have more apps there. Then just browse around you'll see lots of other apps. Also, since the reviews are plentiful in US region, it's easy to judge if an app is good or not by reading the reviews.

QUOTE(krayden @ Apr 23 2013, 10:19 AM)
Small problem here.
During youtube or gaming, i set the speaker volume quite low. After that i have to manually raise up the volume so that i hear my ringtone during incoming calls/sms.
Is there any way around that? Like separating the call tones and app tones volume?
*
Nope, not until MS fixes this on OS level.

Using the yellow one, got it from eBay

Here's the one I bought but it's no longer available: Lumia 920 Rock Yellow Cover

Found another one at similar price if you wanna get: Lumia 920 Rock Yellow Cover #2

True.. I always read the reviews 1st before downloading any apps.. Is there any task manager app for wp that can use to kill background app?

Also, do you guys have any problem connecting with your wifi? I got problem with mine, it can't detect my wifi but it able to detect my neighbor's.. I restarted both my 920 and router several times but the problem still persist. There are similar complaints in nokia discussion but there seem no real answer.
*
Eh.... there's no 3rd party task manager available but you do know how to access the task manager right? To control what runs in background, it's under Settings, Applications, Background Tasks. You can block what you do not need.

No I do not have issue detecting WIFI with my phone so far. Looks like it's most likely your WIFI router. As someone suggested, try changing channels in the WIFI router to lower like channel 1.

I have a 820 which after updated to portico is still with the old firmware. Checking for update again allows me to update again but it's not 1308 and still same firmware version. Just want to know whether 920 users are facing the same problem.
*
Did you restart your phone? Seems like OS version is reported updated correctly but Firmware isn't reporting correctly. Maybe another restart can fix it.

Yeah I've tried that to no avail  sad.gif Still reporting old firmware version. The OS is portico but the firmware is not. I think this is the reason why 820 users cannot update to 1308.
Well at least 920 got it right. I can help my gf to update her 920.
*
Maybe it's just a mistake on firmware no since OS version is actually the correct up to date PR 1.1.5, same as mine. Anyway, check if you have 'Text reply' option in Phone settings. Or 'Keep WiFi on when screen times out' option under WiFi Advanced settings. If you have then you're updated correctly.

Not sure is it Nokia or MS have very bad Quality Assurance testing. shakehead.gif

yeah i never felt this good with a phone before, even with the iphone 5.... praying hard for my phone  cry.gif

Wish you best of luck. Nokia doesn't have policy for 1 to 1 swap sadly. I got my phone back from Nokia Care after around 1 1/2 week. I had issue with either accelerometer or gyroscope. But it was not a smooth service, they kept insisting it's a software issue, updated it then sent it back to the Nokia shop I bought it from. Yet problem recurs just after simply using it for around an hour. Thank goodness the shop helped me to test, else would have wasted my time a lot to take, then have to return back to the shop. This got repeated 3 times, making me wonder if the ppl working in Nokia Care are humans or monkeys. On 4th return to Nokia Care, they changed the camera. But that didn't solve the issue also. Finally on the 5th return to Nokia Care, they changed the main board. shakehead.gif

to be honest..I found my wife Lumia 820 Wifi is stronger anytime than my Lumia 920 Wifi even at same location...both unit on Post Portico 1308 firmware. Sigh...dunno is Lumia 920 weak point or unit hardware like iPhone5 which had similar weaker wifi problem. doh.gif
*
Hmmm.... never noticed this yet to be honest. My wife is using Lumia 820 & we seem to be getting similar signal strength for WiFi.

Why is this a 'oh no for nokia fans'? Not that I support HTC but this is an issue with the supplier to be honest.

Hows the 820 ? Is it worth the difference in price vs L920 ?
Hows the camera in 820 ? smile.gif i like 720 design...but proc,screen & ram lower right?
820 is closest in terms of internal specs to 920
*
Lumia 820 is actually worth it at it's current price now. The camera is passable, quite good in good lighting, but don't expect much from low light. Yes the 820 is identical internal specs wise to 920, except for the 8GB internal storage. That is the biggest mistake I think Nokia made on 820. The other downgrade is the screen resolution but the AMOLED screen is superb in terms of brightness! It clearly beats my 920 in that regard. Yes the 720 is lower spec internally, it's same spec internally with 620 & 520 which is sad honestly.

I dont mind the internal space. 820 expandable by micro sd right ? How about the battery life? i heard bad things about the battery life... haha~
*
Yes expandable by micro sd but you have to remember the restrictions on micro sd. You can only install apps on internal storage so in the end, you're very limited to what you can install on 820. Install some games & all space gone already. Battery life wise I think it's pretty normal. My wife is a heavy call & sms user & it seems to last her through the day. She doesn't on data unless needed.

Hehe... i doubt it will last for me. My current S3 which has decent battery life lasts about 8-9 hours only. Data+sync+apps...etc.. I think i read that you can install on SD card. I saw a link either in here or XDA. Just download the apps manually from the Windows store on PC. It will download as XAP.. then transfer the XAP on your microsd card. Load card on phone and you can install it there. If not mistaken this will install on the SD card itself. from reviews..S3 is still one of the top 5 camera.. 820 isnt in the list. Any new Win8 phones coming ?
*
Wow!! Your usage I think definitely will not last long on 820 also. Yes, you can download the apps from Windows Phone store, put it on SD card, then install from there. Unfortunately, it will install to internal storage. That's how WP is designed. Installed apps all reside on internal storage. Ya, 820 camera is definitely not as good as S3. New WP8 phones? We also all waiting here laugh.gif

But safe to say something will be shown in the next few months.

*
Yes, that's Nokia's aim, to come out with a slimmer & lighter package, hence the switch back to alluminium. But still no concrete news, just a leaked photo which doesn't really look nice also.

Not sure but from the looks of it no since this is actually a security thing, not a missing feature. If they figure it out probably it's WP9 already hehe.
