right now the core problem is that the hardware and software (os) are made by 2 different companies. it will take time for them to sync flawlessly to produce a very good and near perfect phone.

back in the old days, nokia makes their own both hardware and software, so the final product is something solid and outstanding. how i wish nokia will come back again in the software department and make something exactly perfect for their upcoming lumias and other future models. i have no doubt if this happens, they will achieve tremendous global success.

bad news..

i was with a night cycling convoy in my housing area last wednesday and bicycle light ran out of battery. went pass a plantation area with total darkness and ended up in a pool of mud.

no major damage on my bicycle but unfortunately water went into my phone which i kept it in a pouch.

only realize it after i reach home after seeing mist at each corner of the lcd. few hours later back camera also filled with mist and a layer of water stain covered the lower right of the lcd and the stain ended up filling almost half of the right side lcd.

next day realize that the camera led not working.

still able to use the phone lcd slowly dying off after 2 days. i saw the entire process of the lcd dying off where it starts to flicker and filled with vertical lines. the vertical lines slowly fade off and screen went entirely blank.

could not manage to revive it and unable to erase data even with hard reset using the 3 buttons. though with my screen blank, i know that data is not erased because i hear new email tone after phone restarts via hard reset.

apparently hard resetting using 3 buttons do not erase data is quite a common issue after went tru several forums.

fortunately, i remember the erase data function in windowsphone.com and finally manage to erase my phone.

sent my phone to nokia centre in amcorp mall this morning and eager to wait for the technician to update me the status.

         

Yeah I've tried that to no avail  Still reporting old firmware version. The OS is portico but the firmware is not. I think this is the reason why 820 users cannot update to 1308.
Well at least 920 got it right. I can help my gf to update her 920.

I have an unbranded Singaporean set. I am currently roaming on Digi in HK and have yet to receive any OTA update. Anyone with SG unit have received their update?

Cut from normal SIM to Micro SIM prevents receiving 4G signal. You will only get H+ at most. So no 4G, nada even if you are Maxis paying customer or in a 4G-enabled zone. So get a proper MicroSim!

I am just wondering about battery replacement for my L920. Previously, I came across with some comments on the thread about we can get free battery replacement from Nokia Care if the battery life is draining fast.
Can I get this done in any Nokia Care in PJ/KL area? If so, do I have to pay? How long does it take to get it done?

Is it normal to get drained of 5% overnight in flight mode?

My issue is that with wifi on I chat on whatsapp/facebook, from 45% drop to 10% in like 30 mins. but while i don't do anything about it or just listen to songs, my phone can last 1.5 days in average (provided I switch off my phone while I sleep).

I am very disappointed with the battery life. I am about to travel and would rely a lot on the nokia maps/city lense app. I can foresee my phone won't last a day.

some places that I want to go just doesn't exist in offline maps! needed to go online then have the places warrghhhh this wasn't exist in the previous Nokia Maps especially on the Symbian devices. great search, only slower gps lock.
