Anyone try out the Samsung Ativs S yet? I'm surprised at how good it is. Camera I think is comparable to ip5. Real damn good shots + the faux aluminium build feels real premium even though it's plastic. It reminds me of my old Nokia E51. Dunno whether to go for this or L920 now, but my mom wants me to get ipong or some sort of android.

QUOTE(solution2u @ Apr 22 2013, 04:28 PM) Good luck with Ativ S. It is great device if Samsung put effort as much as Nokia & HTC. Check out this article before you buy it: http://www.wpcentral.com/samsung-trying-sa...e-out-microsoft Nokia overheat issue really scare me off bro. I don't want faulty product. Only reason I buy Asus laptop is because of the damn good service + quality (top along with Toshiba) along with good specs at cheaper price. The 2 year free warranty helps too I am not sure how many owners have hardware issues, but I can tell you I am 1 of the happy owners here QUOTE damn i totally forgotten about Nokia Drive! lol! i did that on the same night. but the "stain" looks permanent to me. now i can only wait for Nokia to get me back whether my phone can be repaired. according to the customer service, water immersed is still covered by warranty as long as there's no hardware failure or crack of LCD. can only hope for the best else LCD replacement costs around 650 plus 50 labour fee. Phone got water inside of it and you still kept it on? #epicfail This post has been edited by red streak: Apr 22 2013, 07:09 PM |

QUOTE(marcus6431 @ Apr 23 2013, 02:05 AM) This is worse than Apple vs Samsung, it's outright theft. Copying a design is one thing. You can't steal hardware from other people and expect to escape epic lawsuits that you'll definitely lose. It's a damn carbon copy that probably works exactly the same. Maybe Nokia will finally make profits (as a result of this lawsuit) soon But damn that HTC's motherboard looks so serabut. Is this really a flagship smartphone? The Mahkota Parade display Lumia 920 unit also has issues. That's what, 2/3 of the official retailers in Melaka now? One of them didn't even notice their display unit was f***ed for weeks until I reported it to the Nokia Malaysia's fb. They then swapped it around with a new red unit since the yellow one was probably "gone" already. 3 main buttons worked but the other areas of the touchscreen were totally unresponsive even after a soft reset.
Only good thing I can see is that they have plenty of those cc1043 cases lying around. This post has been edited by red streak: Apr 27 2013, 11:10 PM |

QUOTE(solution2u @ Apr 28 2013, 08:04 AM) Last week I & my friend went to test Note 2 demo unit. Mana tahu the touch screen unresponsive pula. Nah I get that there's gonna be some "damage" if so many users handle it. But my issue with Nokia is the fact that none of them noticed or ignored it for nearly a month until I reported it to their facebook page. It was only after that they replaced the faulty display unit. Only one display unit for their flagship unit in one of the major locations in Melaka, and it doesn't even work. People won't realize how awesome the L920 is if they cannot test it out.Switch to US better, got more apps. Go to settings > phone updates (check for latest update) Go to settings > about (check for firmware version) |

QUOTE(hizad @ Apr 28 2013, 05:57 PM) I have a Lumia 920 with the latest firmware. However ever since I have this 920, my streamyx email always coz my phone to freeze and I have to soft reset the phone. The streamyx email live tile will disappear and also in the list of programs but not when I go to settings>email it is still there. I then have to remove it from this and add the streamyx email again. anyone has this problem. anyone knows how to solve this problem. thank you Streamyx has a wp8 app? O_o Knowing the quality of local brands, there's probably a bug in the app that causes the crash. |

Lol. I'm actually waiting for the announcement in the hopes that L920 prices will drop to ~1200-1300. The latest and greatest flagship will easily cost 2k+ when it's fully released so it's not really worth picking it over an iPhone unless it's gotten a major hardware upgrade. As it is I heard there's only minimal changes, though with a probable aluminium build.

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 16 2013, 03:28 AM) My Lumia 920 also can last 3 days, if taking 3 calls a day, a few sms, and 2-3 hrs of music is all i do on the phone. Using H+ and battery drain like crazy, 20% per hour on average. The phone somehow keeps searching and switching networks between H and H+ (and occasionally when internet becomes unavailable, G only), and suck my battery like crazy. That really pissed me off. Does that mean your data is off most of the time (2G only)? I'm trying to find a bag of tricks to prolong my battery life later |

QUOTE(zachary22_77 @ May 16 2013, 03:25 PM) Eh... how can you actually compare an old nokia that can last a week with smartphones of today? I'm very lazy to charge lah. Sometimes I forget and my phone dies in class. I need something that can last at least 1 day+ Want to get your L920 to last long? Easy, disable data, force 2G, off everything u do not use like bluetooth, wifi, NFC until u need to use it. Will easilly last you 2 to 3 days like that, but not a week. That is expected. MS responded already, so the ball is back in Google's side but I think they are not going to play nice. |

QUOTE(lcly.my @ May 21 2013, 10:02 PM) You first time smartphone issit? Datswai dunno turn off data when not using issit? Even iPhone 5 has major battery drain issues if you leave it on all the time. If you want decent battery life then turn it off when you're not using it.Edit: Oh right, there's something I've always wanted to ask but never got around to doing. How well does your Lumia work with public wifi in comparison to other smartphones? I've heard about the wifi channel 11 Windows Phone issue so I was wondering whether most public wifi (Coffee Bean, Starbucks, McD, Mamak) work with it or not. I'd hate to have to rely on data all the time, even on campus (anyone here from MMU Melaka?). This post has been edited by red streak: May 22 2013, 04:12 AM |

QUOTE(Stanley^Carter @ May 27 2013, 09:52 AM) My L920 just got back from warranty last week, and the screen is still freezing, I've called Nokia Care Line and called the service centre numerous times, written a loooong report email to them and even took a video of the problem and uploaded it to Youtube, now still waiting for their reply, hopefully I can get a replacement unit. Yeah it's that problem. Your motherboard gone ody. Get yo ass ready for the 1 month long wait while your 920 is in the ICU. Sooooo unlucky to have gotten a faulty unit. QUOTE hey guys is it worth it to get a secondhand lumia 920 or a brand new 720? you guys seem to be encountering a lot of issues with this phone It depends on your needs. If you just need it for messaging/calls/some surfing then L720 is good enough. I think I read somewhere that Nokia's profit margins are a lot smaller than they should have been because they had to spend a lot of money on replacement shitty hardware (I think it was from WPcentral). That's why I'm waiting for the L925 and the user reviews instead of getting the 920. There's like a 10% chance of me getting a faulty unit and I don't wanna drop RM1700 on that chance since Nokia Malaysia's service sucks big time. I don't think their first and second shipment stocks (the bad ones) are sold out yet due to lack of sales in Malaysia so that's why I'm not gonna buy it. |
