Anyone knows any good doctor or specialist who treats anxiety in kepong area or near kepong? Does selayang hospital have one?

Selayang Hospital got psychiatrist but you need to get referral letter first. For me, i visit private psychiatrist in PJ.

My dad is suffering from anxiety sickness, he is taking xanax and lexapro.

Mine is not so serious I think

Usually first visit is more expensive. Mine is RM206 including consultation and 2 weeks medication.
2nd visit cost me RM212 including consultation and 4 weeks medication.

For a start, any GP can treat anxiety along with depression, you don't really
need to visit a psychiatrist along with the heavy costs.

It's only if your anxiety/depression is refractory, then you should consider a psychiatrist.

Common first line anxiolytics are :

Chlorazepate (Tranxene),
Lorazepam (Ativan)
Flupenthixol (Fluanxol)
Alprazolam (Xanax)
Beta blockers

Xanax also has some antidepressant effect.

My GP schoolmate, Dr Wong Ang Lai who runs Klinik Maluri in Jalan Mahkota,
Taman Maluri, prescribes the SSRI sertraline (Zoloft) for depression along with anxiety.

Beta blockers reduce the symptoms for anxiety. Some snooker players, for example,
take 10 mg of Inderal before a game to "steady" their hands.

Flupenthixol is an old antipsychotic used in schizophrenia, but low doses of 0.5 mg
are effective for anxiety. I used to take some in the 80s for a few weeks.

I have friend who does psychology counseling. let me know if you need his contact. He can assess you to see if you need any behavioral therapy. ANxiety cant b solved by suppressing the symptoms. you need to treat the cause of the anxiety.
