It make no sense to build MRT for a city with total population of less than 10k.

Maybe such an idea will be proposed by the Pakatan Rakyat, given they are going to spend RM8billion to solve traffic issue in Penang.

You will soon to understand that they can't govern this country any better. Vote wisely.

As for Greater KL, MRT is definitely the way to go regardless who rules the Govt. As of now, SPAD is already focusing on MRT planning.

Any lines more than 30km would have sufficient capacity required by a MRT system. Bear in mind, we can have 3 or 4 cars on a MRT before extending it further, but the idea is that the girder, the guideway, the stations and planning of infrastructure must be built for future.

Similar problems we now encouter with KL Monorail where the extension is being done because the Monorail has reached overcapacity. But the extension is facing difficulties now. If it was me, the line could be a LRT in the first place if we foresaw the traffic today.

LRT should be put as communal rail such as connecting Kelana Jaya to Bandar Utama and to Bandar Sri Damansara.

What I mean is not to implement an independent MRT system solely for Cyberjaya and Putrajaya, only the madness will implement it....What I mean is if there is any possibility for the MRT line 3 to connect their last station to Serdang up tp Cyberjaya / Putrajaya, which I am personally think it is feasible to do so....

For any government wish to develop Cyberjaya, the connectivity from CYberjaya to KL and PJ area is really important in order to boast up the surrounding area property value. It won't be necessary to have standalone MRT system just for Cyberjaya, but it is good to connect Cyberjaya through MRT line via Serdang / Puchong to other places, this is definitely feasible to do so if you refer to the MRT model in Singapore and MTR model in Hong Kong.

However, this is just my 2 cents opinion....

Yeah, I do agreed in your opinion. Sometimes we have to be plan ahead for future. Perhaps when in 2020, more population in Cyberjaya, that time the government thought have a serious consideration to link MRT to cyberjaya, to promote usage of public transportation. Its a pain to implement now, but i think it is no harm to have a pre-planning for the future.

Planning ahead is always cheaper than we plan in the future.

Totally agree that there is no need for additional MRT/LRT, given the fact there is already the existing ERL, in the distant future maybe, but certainly not in the next few years. As long as they have a good feeder bus system to the ERL station, that should be more than sufficient.

Just does not make economic sense to add a MRT/LRT line now. The only recent why there is the ERL is because KLIA is the 14th busiest airport in the world and it handled almost 40,000,000 passengers last year. Yeap, that's 40 million passengers.

Even if Cyberjaya reaches the population of 100,000, I don't think so it's enough to justify the need for MRT/LRT.

Old Klang Road TODAY has a population of 270,000 and that is one of the many reasons needed for it to be included in the study and research for the proposed MRT 2. Apparently, one of our ministers made a big 'hu ha' that it won't be going through Old Klang Road but Pantai Dalam instead.

As much as I like Cyberjaya (heck, I even bought a property there!!!), really don't see the MRT/LRT coming anytime soon.

BRT will do.

If they build an MRT to Cyberjaya, The ridership of ERL will drop significantly.
By right, there should be an MRT to Cyberjaya. Afterall, I thought the govt was trying to promote it as an MSC to attract multinationals.

Now there are talks of the 2nd and 3rd line of LRT feasibility studies that are underway, and will be done by year end. One is from East to West (Cheras to Klang) while the other is for North to South.
