General question to all of you, especially those who work with Apple Resellers, do you go back to the store where you purchased your Mac to get service or is it faster/better to go to the Apple Authorized Service Providers eg. VR Technology?

Do places like MacAsia actually do service or are all repairs sent to VR Tech etc?

For what it's worth, people are selling ACPP plans on Ebay starting at US$129 (Macbook) and US$229 (Macbook Pro). I'm buying one, so I'll report and let people know how it goes.

Standard prices are US$250 (RM950) for Macbook and US$349 (RM???) for MBP

I went to LYP last weekend, the prices of 1GB SO-DIMMs have dropped to the RM235 per piece level. Cheap enough to go for 2GB RAM!!! biggrin.gif

Those are not the ori Apple ram arh? What is the speed of the ram?

There's no such thing as ori Apple RAM. Apple uses Hynix and a few other OEM brands but they're basically DDR2-667 RAM.

This was KVR. I've been using them in my Mac Mini, C2D Macbook for some months without problems (although I bought them back when they were RM400 apiece).

Hey guys, quick question: Should I buy a macbook now or wait until leopard comes out this October? I've been looking around for a new lappie, and the macbook is the only one that ticks all the boxes, albeit costing £500 more than a similarly spec-ed sony vaio...

Anyways, since I'm commited to taking the plunge, should I wait for leopard to ship with macs, seeing as i'd only have to wait until october anyways? Your views welcome smile.gif

If you can wait, then yes wait for Leopard. Heck if you can wait, then better to wait for the Santa Rosa based Macbooks which will probably come early 2008. But then again, that's only around one year from the Mac OS X 10.6 plus the quad-core Intel Penryn processors so why not wait more for that in late 2008/early 2009 period. Then there's the new Intel Nehalem based processors towards the end of 2009 which will be a completely new design, promising faster and better performance...

How long do you want to wait?

With RAM at RM115 per 1GB now (KVR), why not just go to 2GB?

I can get 2 X 2gb stick for RM 1800 in the UK, and that is after VAT!

I expect the price to drop a lot within the next 6 months.

I've seen 2 x 2GB sticks advertised in LYP (Thundermatch if anyone's interested) for RM600 or RM300 per piece for OEM RAM, but they don't have any in stock and don't know when they'll get stock.

The Kingston/Apacer/branded 2GB sticks are still going for ~US$130-150, around 3x the price of a 1GB stick so I'm waiting for it to fall more before buying.
