I am surprised none of the MacBook and MacBook Pro users here complain about the LCD quality. it has a very narrow field of view, something which I only realised recently when I have actually scout around for notebook checking out the LCD, among others. in fact, my problem with MacBook LCD is the same as my problem with the LCD of Toshiba Portege M500. It is simply too bright and washed-out to look at any angle other than the optimal pre-designed view. the brightness is also not uniform and there are lights noticeably coming from the side, which is a flaw, as lights should only be shining from the back of the LCD.
Just compare these LCD to the LCD monitors for desktop and even bigger notebooks, such 15' and 17' and you will notice the significant difference in clarity and field of vision. such LCD is only tolerable in older notebooks back when the technology has not advanced to the current stage but for a state-of-the-art notebook, this is a major disappointment.
as it stands, such LCD is totally inadequate for any movie editing, graphics works, image processing and only good for one or two hours of Internet surfing and simple word processing, something we can all do with RM1999 IBM notebook or even a second-hand Powerbook. shame on the branded companies for using subpar LCD.

@prasys,

the 17' and 15' notebooks also uses Glossy Screen Displays but they don't have the same problem. they are crystal clear and crisp, just like the desktop LCD monitors. you will be hard pressed to find a new notebook that doesn't come with Glossy Screen Displays LCD nowadays. in fact, its only known flaw is that it reflects too much external light compared to matte display of old but our standard CRT monitor of old and even normal CRT television also reflects external lights and create distractions. this has got nothing to do with the whitish, washed-out, narrow field of view problem I am pointing out.
