Just got myself a 15.4" MacBook Pro. Having been used to Windows, it's going to be a bit tough to make the switch. ><; Glad to see a thread for the MacBook Pro here. : )

misa,
You won't regret ur purchase and u shouldn't find too much difficulties in making the transition.  I am btw a new user too!  biggrin.gif  Am still getting used to the trackpad.

biggrin.gif Yeah -- I'm trying to get used to not having the right click capability available lol and well, a lot of stuff! I'm going to definitely need help from some of the pro users on this thread. Hope it'll be okay to ask cavemen like questions over here. xD blush.gif I'm not using the trackpad as of yet as I'm making use of the mighty mouse lol. The mac, well, it's a whole different creature.

anyway, macbook pro is a fantastic machine. how's the heating issue.. is it that hot? my 12" powerbook previously feels like cooking my lap. i'm happy with 13" macbook but as u know.. limitation with the graphic chipset and ram (compared to macbook pro 3gb max) makes me like want to wack apple for not coming out 13" macbook pro. i need something light n small as i frequently moving n travel.

xD an apple a day keeps the blue screen away. that's a good saying! i love the Mac because i'll never have to deal with virus issues again. well, that's what i heard and i'm hoping that it rings true. much to learn, i have.

with regards to the heating issue, i think the macbook pros are okay. i can leave it on my lap for an hour or two and not have it burn my skin unlike a lot of other laptops. but! i try to use a table as much as possible anyways. i have this problem with the macbook though, when i'm charging the batt, i'm always getting static or electrical spikes when i use it because of the metallic surfaces on the mbp. i don't know if i'm the only one experiencing this. but damn, it's annoying.

siaukia, damn, sorry to hear about your macbook. i hate it when i have to send out stuff for repairs because it always comes back scratched. it happened with my dvd player, my walkman, my tv when i sent it to best denki for a repair. i bought the apple care protection plan and that's gonna last me for the next three years but hell, i'm hoping that i don't ever have to send it in for any service. i'm so careful not to scratch the damn thing, it'll be really crappy if i send it out for a repair and it comes back looking like its been given a whole new face -- a bad one.

hopefully you'll be able to get the cover changed. i think wizardboy is right, the next time anyone sends out their macbook for a repair, please take photographs of your mbp and be sure to pass it on to the person repairing it as well, telling him that you expect it to come back looking like that and if not... : / well, maybe that's proof enough for them to at least get your mbp fixed up if they wreck it. sad.gif

Yeah, keep us updated! ...I was using my mbp just now and I noticed that the left speaker distorts at certain levels...damnit. It's not even at full volume! And I was just saying how I don't ever want to send it in for service! ;0;! Cheh.

P/s: I don't know whether this is the right place to ask but well, I guess this relates to hardware issues as well. Can I play Quake 4 on the mbp? Or do I need to upgrade the system? Mine's the 2.16ghz unit. blush.gif If not, haih, what kind of games can I play on the mbp? Anyone's installed any on their mbp without upgrading it? Sorry for the blur question, I'm asking because I'm a console gamer and I have no freakin' idea about pc/mac gaming but I want to try to play quake 4 on the mbp if possible lol. xD;

Thanks guys. I'll need to preorder Quake 4 from www.macgame.com.my. Will post whether it's any good on the mbp once I give it a try.

What exactly is the arm rest or skin protector for the mbp? What does it protect? The area next to the track pad? Is that where it's supposed to be placed at? ...gosh, I need to go shopping for more stuff for the mbp. All I purchased was the ACPP, the keyboard dust cover thing and a lappie sleeve. tongue.gif

misa,
the armrest protects the area beside the trackpad...it's a good idea to protect the area...
because...if u rest ur hands too much on it...the part will be dirty n discoloured...
since u r shopping for mbp stuffs...try looking for a trackpade protector too...=)

Great, thanks for the info. I'll look for the trackpad protector as well as the armrest. I should be able to get it from Mac Asia right? smile.gif ...sometimes I hate expensive gadgets because you have to just care for it so damn much. xD; Blargh.
