guys, i need some info - just got my macbook today.

some fella once told a friend of mine that it's not good to always connect the power adaptor to the mac. best to only connect it when the battery is low, as this will prolong battery life.

how true is that?
AFAIK http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=346&pgno=8

This is true. Apple recommends that you let it drain the battery at least ONCE a month.

any source for that?

cos i just got my Macbook yesterday and it's now at full charge. just want to know how to care for the battery. biggrin.gif

time to go apple.com's discussion forum.........

yup. i've just read the same documents last night (link 1 and 2)

and i've browse the discussion. there's nothing about discharging before recharing, it's just the month battery calibration.

probably the mac-tech misunderstood this.

If you don't use your device often, be sure to complete a charge cycle at least once per month.

this should be what the calibration is for.

If it's a macbook pro it might be the lame intel gma950 integrated graphics card instead of the ati discreet card.

nawww, it's not lame. as long as it serves its purpose, it's good. biggrin.gif if it doesn't serve your purpose, it's not lame either. it's because you either bought the wrong specs or you've own-grown your requirements on specs.

Did you buy it when you purchased a MB.. or did you buy it elsewhere and bargained for it..?

If you bought it elsewhere as a single accessory, mind sharing with us where..? smile.gif
*
i bought mine from Ikano that donno what Mac shop where gamers.com.my was. smile.gif a week later, i saw Ascend Zone was offering the same item for RM 3,599 with mouse, keyboard protector and so on - the only catch was Cash & Carry.

anyway i bought my keyboard protector and Tucano sleeve from Ascend Zone too.

for easier browser, remember to go System Preferences and look at the Keyboard / Mouse section where you can enable scrolling with touchpad and stuff like that.

makes like easier, when i use WIN based desktop i tend to do that. tongue.gif so used to mac for browsing with touchpad.

Can a MB be left on and running for 24/7 without any serious effect?

Total dummy with that "pad" thingy. A RM 10 mouse serve me better....  shocking.gif

hehe. mah fan la for me to lug a mouse around.

normally i prefer a mouse, but the mac seems to be the only lappie that i don't mind using touchpad.

nice way to make u to go buy another mini-DVI to VGA convertor........

oh well.......might as well get the mini-DVI to VGA ones...that's more useful....

was thinking of hooking my macbook to my monitor via DVI....now have to hook it to VGA.......heheh
*
actually i got mini-DVI to DVI cos i like the idea of output it to my Dell 2007WFP. and i prefer DVI over VGA.

furthermore i thought my DVI - VGA converter can use on it.

anyway, since DVI-VGA converter is cheap only - i actually plan to break those pins that are blocking the way. hehe. or at least, find a DVI-VGA converter that doesn't come with that.

i was thinking about the same also.......break the other pins so that it'll fit...but not sure if it'll work or not.......u trying it? whistling.gif  notworthy.gif
*
tried.

1. the pins are hard to bend, let alone break.

2. even if the pins were broken, that wide & flat connection point there is too wide for the mini-DVI - DVI converter.

EDITED : please refer to attached image.

goldfries/lokgotz,
I wouldn't mind an additional DVI to VGA cable so if it doesn't work the way you guys intended for it to work, you sure can very well keep it as a spare for me `k?  biggrin.gif
*
unless i have a spare, i can't give you yet. tongue.gif

DVI-VGA is helpful, especially when want to output to VGA monitors. new VGA cards nowadays come with DVI only.

because i was readhing the thread that some of the forumer got Core duo's black book at really cheap price, so i thought that since the performance was like 10% i could live with it while saving bit of money from it
if you're just browsing the net and stuff, then you won't feel the difference.

even if you do photoshop and all, it's not like 10% slower all the time that you use. even if you feel it, it's only when processing is involved.

if resizing takes 5 seconds, 10% is just 0.5 seconds which you actually won't feel.
